Another Lowes trip was in order today. We put Enzo in a cart, thinking they would be less likely to ask us to leave. Have to admit...at 47 lbs, she looks silly, but loves riding in the cart. We were met by " Lauren" who adores Enzo and always has a treat ready for her.

As Enzo was entertaining , the Mgr. Walked up, and I thought: " here it comes". Instead he laughed at her in the cart and he too, gave her a hug. I figured what the hell and came right out and asked about any new policies regarding dogs in the store. He sort of rolled his eyes and said in Ca. they have told their employees to go on a dog by dog basis. If a dog is barking a lot, if a dog is showing ANY kind of aggression , they are to be TOLD ( not asked) to leave. They were also told to watch " high risk " dogs. His words, not mine. I"m guessing this meant Pits, Rotties, etc. seems really asinine to me. He did say that MANY customers shop with their dogs and Lowes felt that these people would shop their competitor (Home Depot), if they could no longer bring in their dogs.
Makes no sense to me....but we were happy to hear Enz was still welcome.

That's wonderful news:)

Holly has been going to Lowe's and Home Depot since she was a puppy.  We have only had one problem in six years.  There is a green patch at the side of the local Lowe's parking lot.  I usually stop there to let Holly relieve herself before entering the store.  I don't really need to do this anymore since Holly is so well house trained but, that is just part of our routine when visiting Lowe's.

On day Holly urinated and an over zealous employee yelled to me, "Clean up after your dog!"  I explained that the dog had not defecated, only urinated.  The employee didn't seem to understand the difference.

We made a trip to the duty manager and she explained to the employee that the "Clean up after your dog" policy was not meant for dogs who had simply urinated.  After the employee has gone back to his duties, the manager explained  to me that they would need to change their training policy. She said, "I thought it was obvious that cleaning up after your dog, did not apply to dogs who had urinated."

Regarding farmer's markets.  Dog's are prohibited by law to be in areas where food is served.  I don't know if this a California State Law or a city or county ordinance.  However, it is generally disregarded by vendors and customers at my local Escondido, California Farmer's Market.  I take Holly there often.

LOL...I'm guess this employee never made "employee of the month", nor is the sharpest tool in the shed!  ;)

That picture is adorable! Some Lowes here allow dogs I think and some don't. I'm a chicken so I'm kind of afraid to try!

LOL...what's the worse that can happen? They ask you to leave?

True!

Any Mgr. who has any sense of PR, will ask you nicely and may be even allow you to stay, for this time around.

LOL...I'm guessing Darwin is too BIG for the cart? (I'd love to see that pic!)

Like I mentioned, we had been putting Enz in a cart, just because we thought maybe they'd be less likely to ask us leave with her.

I'm the same way! But I am going to try it because it will be great socialization for Cally and it will be a great place to do distraction training!

That's what we did today! It was Ragley's first true session of intense distraction training. We went to Hobby Lobby though, which is apparently dog friendly! I called ahead of course to check but the man happily told me that they welcome well-behaved dogs! It was awesome and a great training session for Ragley.

Yay,,,,glad Ragley got a chance to show Hobby Lobby just how well a well mannered dog behaves!

Enzo is adorable!!!!!  Libby would never get in the cart!

LOL...Enzo loves to ride in the cart!
