Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I will be visiting my pup's litter on Saturday and I am seeking advice or tips on how to select a puppy. I don't want my EXCITEMENT to overshadow what I am there to do: select a pup that is a good match for my family. I have many questions like "Do I just observe first, do I sit still and let the pups come to me, do I handle and play with the pups a lot, etc??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

we were unable to visit our breeder (we didnt have a car at the time and she was an 8 hour drive away). We relied on our breeder to choose the best pup for us. she chose perfect for us! try not to be swayed by looks - fur and colour - or gender.... choose on personality
No new pictures and no update so.......HOW'D IT GO?????
My visit is this Saturday, June 8th. I will most definitely post pics and keep you posted.
LOL I was so excited you were going to see the pups I read right past the part where you said....this Saturday. The picture of the boy that you posted made me suck my breath in, slowly exhale, and groan in envy. I keep repeating to myself "I do not need another dog! I do not need another dog!" I do not.......like listening to myself when I don't get the answer I want.
Personally (this is me speaking for myself) I'm a total and complete sucker for a boy dog. That being said, when you get there and see the puppies, I have a feeling you will just know which one is meant for you!
Too funny. I keep telling myself the same thing EVERY TIME I see a photo from an owner with two or more Doodles. My DH said, "absolutely not". I take that to mean "maybe." The kids and I will continue to work on him, LOL.
I already have two very large dogs, if I tried to sneak in a third I could get caught.
Thanks everyone for your input. I will make sure that the breeder knows all that she needs to know in order to make a great selection for my family. I filled out a questionnaire but there are a few things that I'll add on the visitation day. I am sure that she will help me to make a great choice. Now, I have to figure out how not to BURST, from all of the excitement, prior to meeting my pup. I believe that I am worse than my kids, LOL!!
Here is the one and only male pup-- one of my favorite photos: (Not sure if he'll be mine though, I am keeping an open mind)
I could just suck the cuteness right off that face! Heavens to Murgatroyd, that puppy is ADORABLE!
Awww.. Adrienne, he's gorgeous. Look at those big fuzzy furry paws and that face!!! I bet they are all adorable! OK now you've got us all on the edge of our chairs :)) LOL
Thanks guys. And Cheryl, you are right. They are all just as cute as this big fella, and an assortment of colors, so I am sure that I'll be happy regardless. I will post plenty of pics from my visit :)
Oh so cute!!
Adrienne, GET THIS ONE...LOL!
