Anyone want to weigh in on a name for our new puppy?

Hi everyone....

I'm new to DK and we are getting our labradoodle puppy on March 16th!!  Our pup will be a cream colored little girl.  I'm completely obsessing over names (among other things!).  I understand that you all love playing the name game, so I'm hoping you'll feel like weighing in on our top 3 choices. I can't decide between Lupin (one of my favorite spring flowers), Marin (from Marin Co, CA which we love) and Mango (funny, goofy tropical name).  And if anyone has any off-beat names to suggest....I'm all ears!

What a coincidence. We brought our (also) cream colored goldendoodle little girl home LAST March 16th! We have a VERY Irish last name, and St. Patricks Day is almost as important as Christmas in our house, so we went with "Molly". (Irish names are much easier when you have a male puppy, I think! I had a hard time finding the right Irish girl name, but it fits her perfectly!) Sometimes you just need to bring them home and see what "fits" once she settles in. Whatever you name her, she is adorable and you will love her. Enjoy! And get some sleep while you can!

I think you got LOTS of Great Suggestions, but I like "Marin". I have a friend that says you need to call the name as if your calling the dog in from outside.....Sounds crazy, but it works!!!

You do.  Our rescue was called Buck when we got him.  I really like that name except one can't yell it in public very easily without being misheard.  Will others not get how to pronounce Marin?

I have always named my pets as if they were people, since they are always such a big part of my life..  We have an Annie and a Lucy, but in the past have had Henry, Jamie.  I also seem to like names that end in "EEY" sound, LOL I just noticed that!  But I also like your names, Marin is probably my favorite of the bunch.  Best of luck with the new pup!  I bet you are so excited!!

I vote for Mango.  Another alternative, STEVIE!!!  Not really Irish, but i was going to suggest Stewie and this is the closest thing i could think of.  Oh, maybe Ollie too.  You'd have to ask Amy first though,  but even though it's Oliver's nickname, you have my permission.  OMD i just thought of another one.  Ellie, or however you want to spell it.  Good luck!

Of your three, I really like Lupin if you want different.  I thought it was spelled Lupine but see that you can spell it either way.  Mango is a wonderful name (fun to say), but if you want more unusual, I know that we have Mangos on dk.  I like an Irish theme.  Both Ned and Clancy were born on St. Patrick's Day so it is my favorite doggy day.  I had a doodlekisses 'contest' when we got Clancy.  It was great fun and one of my favorites from the contest was Hula.  Clancy was actually Hula for a day, but my family voted it down for him. So...... my alternate suggestions are Hula, Opal and Pearl.
