Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My breeder is very sweet but answers my questions about Hattie in as few words as possible. Is that common to have to drag the information out of them? I was curious if she could expound on the litter ranking and Hattie's personality but all she says is that Hattie is laid back as are all Goldendoodle puppies. Frustrating!

It might be the breeder's personality, might be that she's super busy, might be that at this point Hattie is pretty middle of the road and she has a litter of very similar pups so there's not much to say about her that is different from the other pups.  Does she have other litters she's caring for?  Does she have a good reputation with other clients that you know of?  I don't think you can really 'prepare' for a personality type any more than you can prepare for a child unless you knew in advance that your pup/child was going to be an extreme personality.  But yes...I TOTALLY understand wanting as much info as possible because it's SO exciting and you want to know EVERY milestone and cute or funny or telling thing your pup has done.

Barkley's breeder is awesome.  She has answered all of our questions and then some.  She has told us several times we are free to contact her at any time for the rest of Barkley's life regarding any questions we may have.

I wouldn't rule your breeder out though, who know's- may be just her personality.  Do you by chance know of anyone who has gotten a dog from her before?

Ollie's breeder was fine with questions and did reply the info we needed but she would take a long time to reply to emails. On our visits, she gave detailed answers but was not so great about maintaining her website/ posting photos or updates. She is experienced and involved so I was fine with those things and we ended up with a fantastic dog.

Our breeder has become a friend and someone I hope to have visit us in our home someday and spend time with. There was a connection from the very beginning and she has always been so forthcoming with information via video's, pictures, emails, texting and phone calls. I would have had a much harder time breaking into this whole doodle world as a virgin puppy owner, so it showed me that she cared about her pups and the owners enough to make it worth her while to give me the education I needed to make this a win win experience.

But I have to say, if I were a breeder and had dozens of puppies to take care of, I don't know how one can get it all done in the first place.

Yippie, I am glad you feel better... Sounds like you are getting a great little addition!!!
I'm so happy for you. Hattie sounds wonderful! Lucky lady.
It must be a big relief that she was happy to give you so much information- maybe she had other things going on in her life and wasn't in a " puppy" frame of mind when you spoke previously.
Very happy that it's all working out. Hattie looks adorable !!
Great news!  Now you can just relax - get extra sleep and get ready to enjoy Hattie when she comes home!

That is great!  I am glad that you feel better.  Sometimes I think people have to hear your questions before they can observe what you are asking about.  My DH is very much like that, people always feel they are pulling teeth with him but unless he see's the situation or reads into it further than he won't give opinions.  Then once he does look out he will keep on talking!  With a language barrier I wonder if she wants to think through how she is going to explain something first.  Regardless, it sounds like Hattie is coming from a great breeder :-)

She sounds great and Hattie sounds amazing. Can't wait to see photos and hear stories about her homecoming.
Sandy that's great news.  I have a really good feeling about your Hattie from the time you posted  the picture of the two puppies and asked for help in choosing one.  Can't wait until you get her home.
