I'm curious... Where does your doodle sleep? If you say in your bedroom, does he/she sleep on your bed? Or on the floor?
I love when my doodle sleeps with me. This is a new occurance but I do love it! He's a big boy about 70lbs. So when he's on the bed he takes up a lot of space. My problem is he's still young and a restless sleeper and is now starting to get on and off the bed multiple times a night which is really starting to interupt what little sleep I get. I don't want to have to put him back in the kitchen, where his ex-pen is but I'm now a night 4 of no sleep... Any suggestions?

Sadie sleeps in our room. She has her own bed but mostly sleeps on the bed with us. She is amazing gets a spot and stays in it all night long .Never moves a whisker. She just loves to cuddle.
If she gets too hot she gets down on to her own bed.
I have trained him to go to his bed (at the bottom of my bed) until I'm in bed and have pulled up enough of the covers because once he's on the bed there's no moving him so you have to get while the gettin's good ;)
Once I'm settled I say 'ok' and he comes up on the bed and lies down for a little while then he gets up and roams. between the clickty clack of his nails on the hard wood floors, the jingle of his tags on his collar and the shaking of my bed from the frequent on again/off again.. He's also started this thing where he jumps off the bed and half barks to let us know he has to go outside!! It's seriously killing me. I don't know why this new thing of having to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night but I found out the hard way that ignoring the behavior has the worst kind of consequences....
Like most things with this puppy these things do pass.... but holy moly, I may go a bit crazy with this one!
I want to try to get him to stay put on his bed but I'm not sure how much more my DH is willing to deal with....
Thanks everyone for chiming in!
I am also a light sleeper, and all of my dogs over the years have slept in the Bedroom with me, but on their own beds. Cooper is 100 lbs, and Claire is about 72 lbs. In the past, my Foster dogs have also slept in the Bedroom, and it has been no problem until I got my current Foster just before Christmas. Stella was in another Foster Home before I could take her, and was allowed to sleep in the bed. She would jump on the bed after I fell asleep, and at first would not be a problem, but then Claire, who had never jumped on the bed decided that if Stella could be on the bed, she should also sleep there. They also decided that it would be ok to wrestle from time to time. If I would take the time to correct them, and get them off the bed, I would get so wide awake that I could not get back to sleep. So, I decided the bedroom was off limits for all three during the night, but do let them in for about a half hour in the morning when I wake up. They all sleep in the Living Room on the Couch, or Dog Beds, or on the Floor. Stella had pretty bad fear issues when I got her, so I did not want to discourage her from any social connection with me or my Dogs. She has become so well adjusted that I have been thinking about giving them another chance to stay in the Bedroom. When they hear me stirring in the Morning, they are all outside the door whining to get in!! Also, because we walk off-Leash every day, and have streams, and a pond, I never consider them clean enough to be on the Bed!!
We have two, Guinness is 3 1/2 and has always slept with us. He weighs around 75 lbs. and generally sleeps curled up at the foot of the bed between us. Molly is 2 1/2 and only around 50 lbs. and never used to want to sleep with us, until a few months ago when she decided that she loved to cuddle and now if she has her way will lay snuggled up against me all night. I love to snuggle with her but having her there all night makes it difficult to get a good nights sleep so after a little cuddling I make her get down. Her bed is on the floor by my side of the bed and she seems content there until early morning when she comes up for some morning snuggles. So maybe just a bed on the floor close to you and if you are persistant about making him get down when it's time he'll learn. They are such smart little creatures :)
Darwin sleeps in his crate but when he does sleep on our bed with us he's always on and off. It keeps us awake so it doesn't happen often. Oh well. :-) Your dood is SO adorable!
Bexter sleeps in our room. Part of the time he is on the floor and he occasionally will jump on the bed for a little while, but not for long because he gets hot. He doesn't move around very much. He is a nice heavy sleeper. Maggie, on the other hand, is constantly moving around because she is a light sleeper. She has now learned to sleep on our floor in our room because she is just too big to be in our bed. Now, we will snuggle with both in the bed, but when we go to sleep, usually we will make them get on the floor. They are both very polite about it. What's funny is Bexter is 40 pounds, but makes a bigger bounce when he jumps on the bed because he JUMPS on the bed. Maggie is so big that she can just put her front legs on the bed & gently pulls her hind part up.
That is funny, Traci! Every time Monty jumps on the bed, I think it's an earthquake. We have drawers under the bed, so the bed it pretty high. Before his 1st birthday, I got Monty these cubes at a furniture store so that he does not hurt his legs when while jumping down. He learned very fast to used them as a step when coming both on and off the bed. But the bed still shakes.
Monty looks so cute on his cubes! Good idea, too.
I hate to say it, but all 3 of my boys sleep with me. They all start off on the bed. Our catalan, 65 lbs, has his spot at my feet, Jack, 80 lbs, sleeps to my right, and our schnauzer has to face the door on my left. The catalan gets down during the night and sleeps in his own bed. We've always let our dogs sleep with us so I'm used to it. Imust be a pretty heavy sleeper although I only sleep about 5 hours.
I don't think I'd let my dood sleep on the bed if he kept me awake. As it happens, he does sleep on the bed, and gets up and down occasionally, but rarely wakes me. I think a king-size Tempurpedic mattress helps. :) He's always on the bed in the morning and the first thing I look for when I wake up is that pile of brown fur. Love it!
Three women and two dogs went to the beach for 'ladies and dogs' vacation a few days ago. We'd planned to take three dogs but one little bulldog doesn't travel well and was still tired from a recent trip, so we just had two dogs. That was not as restful as being at home! Trav is in my place in this picture, so as you can see there wasn't a lot of room...it was fun though.
I love the "ladies and dogs at the beach" idea!!! Sounds cozy but fun! Trav looks pretty darn comfy on YOUR side of the bed!! Where's the picture of the bed when everyone is in it and on it?
Unfortunately Hunter cannot get down the hall to our bedrooms. My youngest daughter has severe allergies and even though she is not allergic to Hunter she is allergic to the pollen and spores that Hunter gets on her fur from going outside. She likes a cool place to sleep so she normally sleeps on her bed at the bottom of our steps - it's the coolest area of the house. Sometimes she likes the couch and will sleep there. I would love to have her sleep in our bed but I can see where that would be tough getting a good night of sleep with them getting on and off the bed.
