Last night I posted that Brinkley took an emergency trip to the vet yesterday because we thought he had gotten dehydrated from a beach trip on Sunday.  He worsened overnight so we took him back.  After lots and lots of tests, x-rays and ultrasounds there is a host of problems.  He has a fever of 106.3 and climbing.  His pancreas is enlarged and he probably has a pancreitis.  He also probably has ileus, which is an infection in the small intestine.  His guts aren't moving and his stomack is hard as a rock.  This is the major concern along with the fever.  They said they must get his intestines moving or it can be terrible trouble-- like him going septic and his brain overheating.

What we have going for us is that we caught it early-- really early.  They said most people wait too long thinking it will pass and then the worse case scenerio of death happens.  I just knew something was wrong last night and that's when I rushed him with moments to spare before the vet closed.  My husband spent all afternoon at the vet with him today and now Brinkley is staying overnight getting pumped full of pain meds, antibiotics and and fluids.  They are hoping with constant monitoring his intestines will start to move and not go sceptic.

I'm so scared.

Oh I just can't even stand to read this.. I can just imagine all to well how you feel. I pray with all my heart that everything passes quickly. Good work getting him to the ER so fast and not waiting...

Sending Love and Prayers

Oh Heather, this is just horribly scary, my heart goes out to you.  Keeping fingers and paws crossed that Brinkley will be okay.
This is very scary. I'm sure he is in good hands and the vet. Brinkley will get better soon, I just know it. Hang in there Brinkley, we're rooting for you buddy!!!
Heather, I am so glad that you trusted your instincts and got Brinkley right to the vet. I will keep him and your family in my thoughts.
Heather, so sorry to hear about Brinkley. We are sending positive thoughts and doodle hugs your way.
So so sorry to hear about Brinkley! Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.
Oh my goodness, Heather.  Having gone through a hospital scare with Penny recently, I have an inkling of how scary this must be for you.  You did an awesome job by taking Brinkley in right away, and I send prayers that he's in good medical hands.  Sometimes good antibiotics and fluids are what it takes to get things "moving."  Please keep us posted - Penny and Biscuit send big doodles hugs and kisses to you all.
I'm so glad that you caught this early!  Prayers go out to you, Brinkley and to the vet staff.  He is in good hands!

It is, indeed, a very scary situation.  I'll add my positive thoughts and prayers to those of the others.  Hopefully, things will get moving and he'll be good as new in no time.

Oh, Heather!  Thinking positive thoughts and sending up prayers for Brinkley to turn the corner.  Is there any idea as to how this all got started...or stopped?  Is it a blockage?  Hang in there and know we are all keeping you, DH, and Brinkley in our hearts and prayers!
The vet said he could have an underlying small infection that we normally would have never even noticed because the body can normally fight off small things.  But the bacteria level at the beach may have been just the same as normal but his immune system may have been slightly compromised and it allowed for bacteria to take root where it has been fine in the past.  She's just guessing-- no idea really.
I hope that Brinkley is feeling better soon.  So sorry he is sick.
