When Cooper is excited, or is having great fun playing outside, she will bunny hop. Now, while this is so cute to see, it worries me a little. Ive read that bunny hopping is a sign of hip displaysia.

I know its usual for puppies to bunny hop, but when do they generally grow out of it? Cooper is a standard ALD, 1 year 8 months old. She is from a great breeder (here on DK) and her parents were tested. But I know there are no guarentees.

Am I being an overly worried parent or should I be concerned?

Gavin did it too.  He was travelling at a high rates of speed and a good head of steam going. Then he started doing it all the time.  It was at the dog park.  I was concerned too.  I thought his back foot was sore or something, so I took him home.  Although I touched him all over and he seemed fine.  He had a leg injury (soft tissue) some months back and favoured it for a long time.  I then wonder if he is having "memory" of this old injury and that's why he did it.  The vet checked his hips and joints out really well a few months back and assured me that they were very well seated.  Leg/hip injuries are something that I tend to obsess on for some reason.
Cooper  runs just like my Murphy. Nothing seems to have ever come up in examinations, he never seems to be in any discomfort or distress. He is 2 years old and has been hopping like a bunny his whole life. Someone asked me once if he had HD and I actually got a little affended and just said, nope, that's how he runs and walks. He seems to be similar to most of the doodles I meet and I see lots of doodles as I have organized the Arizona Doodle Romps and we have at least a dozen doodles every month and they are all running around.  So I would have a vet check it out, but try not to worry.

Rooney is a mini ALD 4.5 months old and he hops a lot.  He hops in the grass to potty because he doesn't like to get this feet wet, he'll be running so fast and then add some hops and almost go ass over head, some times he hops just because.  He reminds me of Tigger in Winnie the Pooh he hops so much.  I watched the video and Cooper doesn't seem to be doing anything that would cause me to notice something was wrong (but I know nothing).  I just wonder if this could be an ALD trait?

Thank you everyone for your posts and putting my mind at ease! Overly worrying doodle mum here
