Been there, done that! I used Tabasco sauce on the wood furniture etc. Kona used to chew. Worked great. Make sure you have something he can chew on when he's in the mood. Good luck.
I think the bitter apple spray is worth a try. I also heard of someone putting hot sauce on their wall once... but I can't vouch for the safety of that.
I also think I heard of someone using listerine on furniture as well.
Bender used to do that!!!! I scolded him when I catch him in the act and he eventually stopped. I have dull corners for most of my baseboards :/
My Springer ate couches, chairs, molding and on and on and on. We tried bitter apple, but that didn't work for us. We kept him confined in our den kitchen to minimize damage when we weren't home. Tabasco or a red pepper paste painted on wood helped, but mostly Gordie outgrew it.
Some good suggestions here. It is possible that he's not quite ready for unsupervised freedom. I think if I wasn't there to watch him I'd keep him confined until the chewing is under control. I would give the freedom when I'm there, correct (at least verbally) when he starts to chew something inappropriate, and quickly redirect to something he is allowed to chew (just be sure it's something he likes too....antlers, Nylabones). Good luck.
