Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I agree! It is bad enough they are re-homing them, they shouldn't separate them, too. I just don't understand people that can't have kids and dogs at the same time.
I have sent messages offering to help people on Craigslist in our area many times over. Never hear back from most of them. Once I did get an immediate phone call back from one gentleman who said that he was actually looking for a rescue and would get back to me. Next thing I knew he told me he had found them a home. Most of these people want money for their dogs and even if they are giving them away they can't get past the rescue charging people for "their" dog. Even if it hasn't been vetted. ugh!
Keep sending them even though it might seem like a lost cause. I do not usually get many responses back but have been able to re-direct several of them. The ones that truly want a good home for the dog are not in it for the money as you well know.
So sad. I hope someone comes along very soon that will adopt both of them. They look so happy together. How can the owner say they can go seperate : (
This just breaks my heart...hopefully the owner will contact Colleen or Amy about the DRC. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
The woman replied back to my email and thanked me for the information and for not attacking her (I guess she has been getting some not so nice emails). She said that a few people gave her the DRC info and that she would be contacting them. I was super nice to her when I sent the email and told her about how wonderful DRC is and how much effort they put into finding great homes for their dogs and how I was lucky enough to have adopted a dog through them that is now a much loved member of our family so hopefully she really does contact the DRC. I figured that making her feel guilty would not get her to take my advice on reaching out to DRC.
The dogs would have to be separated, but would be the odds of her finding 1 good home for 2 adult dogs on craiglist?
I am glad she responded back to you. I saw her listing almost as soon as she had posted it (beginning of March) when I reached out. My last foster was a doodle that had been listed on craigs list in our area. She is a wonderful doodle and I am thankful her previous owners loved her so much they wanted to make sure she received a good home.
I would be happy to help her with her Doodle finding it a new home, I am the VA director for DRC and a foster. Hopefully she will contact us!!!!
Sometimes the DRC will do a courtesy listing - maybe this situation would be a good one for that give!
I sure hope she does contact them....also there are a ton of Golden Retriever Rescues.
I have never heard of 5 or 7 year olds to not be settled (high energy)...they look pretty normal in the photos.
Again, people never cease to amaze me in the right and the WRONG ways, this being the latter.
:o(
I agree! The saddest part of this story is the fact that they are 5 and 7 years old!! They have lived out their entire lives with this family and one another! How devastating...
I sent her an email this morning, also. Hopefully, with enough folks encouraging her to contact DRC, she'll feel motivated to do so.
Fingers crossed . . .
