Dakota has Gastroenteritis or Hemangiosarcoma im so sad and scared.UPDATE.

Im beside myself right now and ready to pass out from this.Dakota is at the vet over night tonight and im freaking out.She started throwing up  yesterday and wasnt drinking her water as much as normal.and not playing as much and she has the runs. Then this morning she wouldnt even go near her food bowl.So i rushed her to the vet and they thought she might have a blockage.i told them i keep my house and my yard puppy proof and there was no way it was a blockage. They did the tests and i was right. No blockage. Then they found out she has an enlarged spleen. If its Gastroenteritis then they said its her spleen working overtime trying to fight off and trying to keep with the infection and flu like symptoms. But they also told me not to rule out Hemangiosarcoma.CANCER.My mom died from lung cancer 2 and a half years ago and i got Dakota to help me get through the loss of my mom.How ironic or something like that. They have Dakota on an IV right now and I feel like this cant be happening right now. That im having a bad dream.Ive never had to go through anything like this with any of my dogs.I try to imagine life without her and it hurts so much.Im trying to keep it together for Ozzy but i cant.He is really smart and i think he knows whats going on in a way.He feels really bad for me and is sad too.The vet sent away blood samples and will have the results tomorrow sometime. Its going to feel like forever. It already has. Please convince me that its just Gastroenteritis and not Cancer.

Good news Dakota has Gastroenteritis and not Hemangiosarcoma. Now i know she doesnt have cancer anywhere in her body.Other than having Gastroenteritis she is very healthy as they did all kinds of tests on her.So its like killing 2 birds with one stone. She is going to be on antibiotics for a while and she is very sick still. She just lays there and doesnt want to to anything but she will be fine in a few days and back to her crazy bouncy self. She isnt throwing up anymore and no diarrhea and she is eating again. So all is good.Thank You to everyone. You really helped me alot and i love all of you very much. You helped me to think positive and I did after reading my feedback from you guys.I also stayed strong for Ozzy and Dakota. So again thank you everybody.

Oh Jared - just got home and am so glad to read this!!!!!

Jared, so happy to hear some good news about Dakota. I'm sure she will be back to feeling better.

I am very glad to hear your good news.

I'm really confused. Why would you jump to such a dramatic conclusion that it was cancer that quickly? Did the Vet say it was LIKELY to be cancer, or just something he was looking at to make sure he didn't overlook any possibilities? Just don't understand how you get from not eating and vomiting to imagining life without her? Sorry for my confusion, but then after 4 glasses of wine, not much is making much sense tonight anyway. Lol.

Glad to hear that Dakota doesn't have cancer!

Whew!  So glad it's not the cancer!!  Hope she's back to her sparkly little self soon!

So glad that Dakota is recovering and it is not cancer.  When I read the word Hemangiosarcoma, I was so worried for you.  I know that a sarcoma is cancer.  So, at least that is ruled out.  Keep positive and enjoy every minute you have together.

Just saw this post, Jared.  I am so glad that Dakota will be fine in a few days.  What a scary time you have had.

What a relief. Thanks for the update. Somewhere deep I knew Dakota would be just fine. You must feel so happy right now and I'm very happy for you as well!

Great news, Jared! So glad to hear that Dakota will soon be back to her regular, happy self! Take care!

Thanks for the good news update...hopefully the road to recovery is short.

Good news!  Hopefully she will be back to her old self in no time.
