Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We went to the local animal shelter and found our Eli. He's approximately 6-8 months old because he has his adult teeth and they are all pearly white with tiny yellow staining on the back. The vet thinks labradoodle. Some people have said schnoodle but I don't see schnauzer. He has curly hair but also a wavy/wiry feel along his body. He does shed a tiny tiny amount. I asked the vet if he would get any bigger but he said he doesn't know. Supposedly they can grow until 2 years old? Either way we love him. I was just looking for opinions on his breed and if you think he will get any bigger. He's over 30lbs and about 18 inches tall.

Pictures are of him at the shelter, him on his freedom ride and the day of his grooming. Groomer had to cut him extremely short because he was severely matted. (Pics in comments. Don't know why they didn't post originally).

I couldn't find the photos but I'll look again :)

He is a doll! Very cute! I would say terrier- poodle too--maybe even an Airedale mix? Glad you gave him a great home!! :)

Eli is a doll and a very lucky boy that you came along!  He looks doodle.  You could do the DNA test as someone else suggested. He is very cute!!

He is adorable, and I do see Schnauzer. (The Schnauzers we see out and about have had their ears and tails cropped as puppies.)  It would be wonderful if he is a schnoodle, because they are absolutely fabulous dogs; I had one and she was the best dog ever. But they don't shed at all, because neither of the parent breeds shed.

He's definitely a Poodle mix of some kind. It might be fun to do a DNA test. They're not so accurate, but it might give you a clue.

At any rate, he's adorable and I hope you have many many happy years together. Thank you for adopting and giving Eli the kind of life every dog deserves.

Enjoy your ever so cute Eli.

Oh what a precious little cutie! He definitely some kind of "Doodle" (Poodle mix). Welcome to the club! He may very well be full grown with his height depending on his age. The smaller ones stop growing sooner. He will get a bit fuller as he ages. He is absolutely adorable!

Oh my, he so cute whatever he is. Congratulations to your family and Eli for finding each other. I would guess some kind of poodle/terrier mix. Maybe not schnauzer since Eli sheds a little.

I just read a lot about schnoodles and they don't usually shed. And he sheds a small amount. You'll find hairs on his bed, couch, and such. Plus, he doesn't have nippy tendencies like schnauzers do.

I had a mini schnauzer and he never nipped. He was a great dog. He did like to try to get out to roam until we got him neutered at a year, even a little after that. But that was his only vice and it eventually stopped. He didn't shed.

I had a schnoodle who never nipped either.

Aw...what a great rescue!  Congratulations on your adoption Eli!  Very sweet.

So cute...and so happy you have welcomed him home! So sad to see these poor babies in shelters!
