Sometimes things are so funny and unexpected that you just have to share.

A few days ago my DH started a converstion with "I have to tell you what I did today and I really hope no one was watching". I was almost afraid to hear what he was going to say next. The story continued like this, " While I was at the golf course today walking with Quincy he was having problems with snowballs stuck to his paws. He had one that was really bothering him and he would stop every few steps and try to chew it off. Quincy couldn't seem to get rid of it so I tried to pick it off for him. I tried to get it off with my fingers but I couldn't get it either, so I took a quick look to make sure no one was watching and then I picked up his paw and chewed it off myself". OMD, I couldn't quite believe he had just said that, I found myself practically falling on the floor from laughing. When I finally stopped laughing I said " You know I am going to write a blog about this because it is just too funny to keep to myself". He just smiled, I think he already knew when he told me that his secret wasn't going to be so secret anymore.

Do you have funny stories of things that you have done for your doodles that would make other people say, "I can't believe you did that? If so please share your stories here, I promise not to tell, your secret is safe with me. :>)

Oh Donna - this just made me crack up - course I had to read it to my dh who also thought is was so funny!!!!  I have no "I can't believe you did that" stories - the closest I can come was my invention of the paper plate poop catching (with custom cutouts on the plates for easier catching) for months when Stuart was a baby and sick.  Otherwise nadda but YOUR story is priceless!!!!

I think catching poop with a paperplate is hilarious even though you didn't think so at the time. It would make for a great video.

I think paper plate poop catching is a demonstration sport at the upcoming Summer Olympics in London.

What a fun post this is. Since we are telling secrets, about DH's, not ourselves, ;) , I can tell you that ever since Murphy was a puppy, he goes to sleep, wherever he lands, around 7:00pm and is out like a light. It takes quite a bit of coaxing to get him to wake up and walk to the bedroom for the night. So DH started carrying him to bed like a baby, saying " he's tired, I don't want to wake him up". And tucks him into our bed. This was cute when he was about 40 pds, but he's 65 pds now. Murphy still takes a lot of coaxing to " Go to bed" once he's landed, but I think he stays there long enough to see if daddy is going to come pick him up.

That is sweet.

Awwwwww....that's just plain sweet.

This is a great story, Donna.  I know for sure that my DH would never chew a snowball off of our Dood's paws...NEVER.  I like your DH!  I'll have to think of a "story".

I don't have any stories but I would probably do the same for my doodles.  To prevent the snowball build up on their paws I brought "Mushers Secret" I have not tried it yet but it suppose to prevent snow build up, and protect their pads and paws from cold, stree salts and heat.  It comes in a can and is a wax type product that you smear on their paws and in between the pads etc.  I hope it works !!!

Let us know if it works please but thankfully we haven't had s@#$ since October.

We put this on Daisy's feet, we did it to keep her feet from drying out, guess what no snow stuck, well except between the toes. Fantastic stuff. It also helps keep any salt from her feet though we try to keep her off anywhere that has used it.

We also put it on her big old nose to keep it supple.

Does it come off on furniture upholstery? I'd think so.

Actually is soaks in pretty good and then out the door to the snow. The first time DH put it on her I was like no no no that's enough, it's going to get on the carpet....2 minutes later she was walking on the kitchen floor and she left no mark...so I would have to say no.

Daisy doesn't get on the furniture so not a worry for me. She's allowed but she just doesn't she prefers the floor and her beds.
