Doggie Pumpkin Pie Recipe

I thought I would share this with everyone, I got it from Dogster.com.  I am making it for my Sasha, Oliver does not like pumpkin too much :(

 

Whip together 1 can of pumpkin (NOT pie mix), 3 eggs, half a cup of skim milk (or unsweetened soy milk), half a cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.

 

Pour intoa wholewheat pie shell and bake in a preheated oven @ 375 for 60 minutes or until knife comes out clean - enjoy doodles :)

Sue... there are two kinds of pumpkin in the cans.... One is the pumpkin that you make pumpkin pie with that has sugar, spices, etc. (I think) then there is just the plain pumpkin = only ingriedent.  My store sells a organic pumpkin in the can.  I even bought a whole pumpkin, skinned it and roasted it - Sasha LOVED IT.

Sounds like a nice pie. My two would love it, but there is just not enough time in the day to bake pies for them. They like pumpkin right out of the can and get it often, so I think they will have to be happy with that for now. I won't tell them this is what Sasha is getting, cuz they'd be so jealous!!!

Vets tell people to add pumpkin to food when their dogs have diarrhea and many people swear by it--I know it helps my dogs immensely --so i am not sure how the "laxative effect" fits in to that....it certainly hasn't been my experience. The pumpkin I buy is nothing but pumpkin--no spices, no sugars.

The pumpkin makes my doodles poop more firm, that is why I give it to them.  But Sasha just loves it warmed in her food and a spoonfull here and there as a snack-  She is starting to look like a pumpkin :)
