What a story--this is a good example of people who are dog lovers vs. people who are JUST dog owners--very inspiring--and upsetting too! Be warned! BUT it has a happy ending!!

By the way, once you have read the story--what do you think? Should this guy get his dog back--I say ABSOLUTELY NOT!! Not because he was left there-- the guy had no choice, but because he did nothing to go back and get him!!!
The young couple came upon her and did EVERYTHING he should have done to get her help.
I'm not so sure this story has a happy ending at all. The dog is alive, but she's in the hands of Animal Control, which means that she's going to have to wait in a shelter for the case to be decided, and they said that could take months.
NO, the owner should NOT get his dog back. I hope they bring animal cruelty charges against him. WTD? The couple that found her couldn't get her down by themselves either, but they didn't just walk away, they got help. He left that dog there and did nothing for 8 days? Left her to die alone up there? What a sorry excuse for a human being. If he had one speck of human decency, he'd let that couple have her, for her sake, so she could go home and not have to sit there in a shelter.
If the situation had been reversed, and he was the one who had been injured and couldn't go on, that dog wouldn't left his side for anything in this world.
I absolutely agree with you. Why the heck did he take the dog to begin with?
I just saw this on the news and immediately knew that I would find a discussion about this here on DK. I agree 100% with everything you said! The original owner is a disgrace and should never in a million years get his dog back. I think he is just saying he wants her back to "save face" anyway (as if that's even possible after how he abandoned her.) I pray that the family who worked so hard to rescue her can adopt her.
No! The original owner shouldn't get Missy back! Why couldn't he get help for her? Why did he have her up there in the first place?
I agree Pat! Why did he take her where her paws would get so injured? She should have had protective wear on her feet! He lost all his rights of ownership when he abandoned her. Done deal.
I hope thousands of people contact this man, on his FB page or wherever, and beg him for the dog's sake to let the couple adopt her, NOW.
I can't understand why animal control can't get this decided for the couple in a hurry.
It won't be animal control deciding it, they just hold the dog until the court system decides.
