I am tickled to watch Ginger play/watch a string of ants come in through the back door.  She does to play bow and then puts her head down and watches them intently.  It is one of the cutest things she has done...I do have a question...This time of year, the ants do come into my house..and I usually spray the door skill with Raid and it does the trick.  But with a puppy, can you use bug spray?  If so, what kind is safe?

My dog Lovie, is allergic to ants! I put white vinegar down around the doors or base moldings
We use the ant traps and hide them. snickers has never bothered them.
I don't think any bug spray per se is safe.

That is so funny as the comic of Dog eat Doug had the dog and little baby dougie laying watching intently on a row of aunts. THey said I wonder if they even notice that we are watching over them. Then they both looked up wondering are we being watched too!!!!

We are having a terrible time with aunts this year and alot of people are complaining about them. We have bought several aunt traps and hidden them in places that the dogs can't get at. It has really worked well. You may want to try that. It takes a bit longer but does work. With no smell either.

Ahhhh...so cute!  Reminds me of when Trav did that with a slug on the patio.  Play bow, watching, hoping it would suddenly start to play with him...    So far, I haven't had ants and a dog at the same time.  I'll be interested in the answers.
That is so cute!! I would definitely not use the Raid around little Ginger (or anywhere else for that matter!).  We have ants coming in right now too and so far have been able to turn them back with DE (Diatomaceous Earth) sprinkled around their point of entry.  If you want to go with chemicals I think the traps would be safer than any type of spray product but keep them out of her reach. Hey, we were all looking forward to Spring, right???
We don't use any sprays even in the yard where our pets go which makes it harder but if you need something, use the traps and make sure the dog cannot get near them or even lick in the area. That being said-such a cute story!
Try cinnamon, it really does keep ants out!
Baby powder with talc (as opposed to cornstarch), sprinkled in a line across the point of entry will deter ants.  The one warm day we had on Monday resulted in ants in Porter's food bowl.  You are not alone :-)
The ants are marching two by two hurrah hurrah the ants are marching two by two hurrah hurrah! Just thought of that song we sang as a kid.
