Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
First, I would like to thank you all for such heartwarming love and thoughts that were sent our way. The "love" must be working because only into the third day of medication Gracie is no longer crying when she opens her mouth and she actually greeted us at the door with one of her monsters in her mouth. She was holding it with the front teeth but that is a real start. She is very happy and has energy. We only used the pain pills for one day so now she is only on the Prednisone and antiacid Actually, there is absolutely nothing wrong with her that you can see. She is no longer shying away, crying when she opens her mouth and acting depressed. I think she was in pain and scared. She is her perky self and yesterday I took her to the channel to chase squirrels in the rocks. She really wanted to swim but I didn't have time for the bath that follows. We are headed back for another run in a few minutes. Now that we are not using the chuck-it and tennis ball I need to find a way to exercise. The squirrels are perfect! She has the best time running and poking her head in the holes and trying to dig them out. Gracie is a very happy and energetic girl so I think things will be good in the future. After hearing from some of you about autoimmune system diseases and how well they are controlled on medication, I feel much better. So far she is not showing any side affects from the medication. We jump started with an antacid to keep her stomach safe. We will re-a**** her with the vet after a month and probably keep her medicated for 3-6 months if she is still tolerating it. So again thank you for all the love and prayers you have sent Gracie's way. She received them loud and clear and loves you all for being the special friends that you are!

Nothing but good news. I am so happy for all of you. Gracie you are such an angel, I am so glad you are feeling better.
It is so good to hear this, I couldn't stand the thought of poor little Gracie in pain. Chasing squirrels sounds like any doodles idea of fun exercise.
Awesome!!!!!
So happy to hear that Ms. Gracie Doodle is feeling better and chasing the squirrels :)

Sue...I had TMJ when I was 28 and my brother-in-law was just starting his Orthodontics practice. I was his first patient. Pulled a few teeth and put braces on me. I had them on twice...once at 28 and then at 34. Great fun raising babies with head gear on. They thought they were handles for them to grab and each time I just about had all my teeth ripped out! I do so remember the pain and I actually couldn't close my mouth after yawning without manipulating it! Very painful!!! Gracie was x-rayed for that but it was not what was diagnosed but the indications sure seemed it was TMJ.
OMD! I can't imagine a child holding on and pulling that head gear!!!!! Ouch!
I had it on the left about 12 years ago and when it finally locked open I had to have surgery. did everything recommened before that. This one came about as two teeth were rotating back to where they started when I had braces at age 28 and I didn;t want it to go too much further, so my dentist recommended invisalign braces. Around 2 weeks before they were finished, (5 months of treatment), my right jaw started acting up. Same thing as last time. I am just getting fitted for upper and lower retainers now and hope when all is done the jaw will settle back down, but it has been a very painful 3 weeks waiting. Today was the best it's been after getting the upper retainer fitted on Wed. so I am hopefull.
Nancie, thanks so much for the update. I've been thinking so much about you and Gracie. It seems like a great sign that she's chasing squirrels and carrying her "monster". I really feel that the worst is behind you all, and she'll just keep getting better and better.
I'm so glad that Gracie Doodle is feeling better! Hugs and doodle kisses from JD and me.
