I just found your post-I have no idea who Lydia and David are-could be a son and his wife??? Whoever they are, I will bet that you got a healthy puppy if it's the same place. Our GD Thomas came from there-he was born Sept 30/08 and we brought him home November 25th. HIS Mom was a Retreiver named Pansy and I cannot recall the father(poodle's) name. We contacted Burkhart's after friends recommended their kennel. We could not be more thrilled. Since we came home with this beautiful dog, we have met three other doodles, just by chance that are from also from this kennel. No one has a bad thing to say. So far all is really great with our GD and we are thinking of getting another. Well-I just thought of one thing-Lavina told us Thomas and his littermates would weigh 50-65 lbs. At one yr, our big lug weighs 83 lbs. and I think he is still growing and for sure still has some filling out to do!! No harm though-we love him this way. When we were there-we saw some Cockapoo puppies at the other end of the kennel and she explained that she does breed these also on occasion. I have heard that this breed ( mutt's really) are loveley dogs with good health. We are thinking of looking into one. Does anyone have any experience with cockapoo's?
Hi there... I just checked out your pictures and love them.. .just look at all that snow... brrrr... what a cutie you have!!! I just love these dogs.. .I love looking at everyone's pictures... and videos.... I am originally from Toronto but live in Windsor now... I go back to see family and friends....
Cagney was born Jan.10.09 and will be 10 mths old soon.. I am unsure how much he weighs but I know it is heavy as I can't have him lay on top of me at all anymore.. I feel like I am being crushed... he does not realize his own size yet.... my poor 16 year old cat really has to be careful when he wants to pounce around... Will need to find out how big at his next check up.....
I was very happy with Cagney from the Burkharts.... I dealt with Lydia ..... her mother was in the house... they are all related in any event....the only thing that Cagney had that was not nice was he was full of shavings as when he was hungry he would eat them... I guess he was hungry a lot! He puked 4 times in the van on the way home... Cagney was the biggest dog there when we went... his sister was beautiful as well and we would have wanted her too but we already had a dog and we can't have that many in the city.... His sister was looking out for him a lot you could see that and it was hard to separate them....I still wish we had her....
If you get a Cockapoo please post some pics as I have never seen one... I am going to look that type of dog up on the computer ..... It is sooo easy to start of a collection of dogs eh!?
Is your dog a Labra or Golden doodle?? The mothers will be different I imagine as there wasn't enough time in between from yours and mine... Ours is a Labradoodle... his fur is a little mangy looking right now on his legs as we had to take the mats out pretty close to the skin... he was always wet and getting dirty in the summer ... I can't wait for the hair to grow in again....
Do you have any other names of people that are on here that bought their dog from there?
I had a mutt dog once too ... who knows what he was Heinz 57... but he lived to 16... died because of a heart attack or stroke... but was never sick... awesome...I agree with you on that...
What does GD stand for... how did you pick this name???
Hi again- GD is short for GoldenDoodle. We picked the name THOMAS because we wanted a "human" name and my husband and I always liked the name. We also had two puppy's picked out and to this day I wonder what it would have been like to have both of them. Probably easier the way I see it-they could play and sleep with each other all cuddled up.
Ha,,Thomas is my ex husbands name... ha ha... what sort of neat things does GD do? Any certain streaks of temperment that he has? Any interesting habits... ways to greet you ... etc. etc. that you can share.
