How does your doodle let you know it's time to "go"?

Hey all,

 

We are in the throes of potty-training our little Fozzie Bear's sister doodle, Georgia. I have been hearing/reading that it is quite common for doodles not to tell you in the traditional way they need to go. Our Lab x Parker used to come stare at me and/or whine or bark if needed to get my attention. What do your doodles do?

If we're up they both will walk in and out of the kitchen to get our attention. After we go to bed our boy Gus will give a single bark every few minutes until we get up. Our girl Lily usually will either stick her nose in my face and huff or give a lick on my elbow if it's after we have gone to bed.

Beckett rings the bells when he wants to go out. We started to train him to ring the bells from the time we started potty training him. (at 8 weeks, when we got him) It didn't take him too long before he started to get the hang of it. I love it! If we ever got another puppy, I'd do the same thing.

Jackie, my daughter's boxer learned that if she rings the bells "ANYTIME" Mom and Dad will open the door so she does it about 50 times a day as she prefers to be outside in the back yard, it's hilarious. My DD, after about the 5th time in an hour of in and out, looks and her with the "stink eye" and she just walks away. She says "you aren't fooling my Lily. ha ha

LOL, Beckett started doing that when he first understood what it would get him..lol But once he was completely trained and we knew he didn't have to go, we just ignored him and he stopped soon enough. :) These doodles are too smart.

When Quincy was younger he did nothing to let us know he had to go, we took him out often enough that I guess he didn't need to. Now he will go stand by the door and look at us, if we are not paying attention he will bark to let us know he wants to go out.

If I am sleeping, Jack will come lick my face, and paw at me. I sleep for a really long time so he can't hold it, so he has to wake me up. If I am awake he comes and stares at me, when I go to move he runs to the back door. If I don't come he will come stare at  me again and wait.. I usually get up right away but if I make him wait, he is really cute...

Murphy was originally trained using bells. Now he will go to the door and look at us. Or if we aren't paying attention, come stare at us,

Bindi walks back & forth to the door or sometimes she will whine.

Trav goes to the door, then looks at me.  Interesting that so many of the doods do this!  If I'm asleep and don't see him, he'll whine, just very softly.

I get a soft bark from my older doodles--louder if I don't respond right away--but my little Rio, at three months old, sits at the door and gives me a sad look. So cute! I am thrilled that he has started to let me know when he has to go!

Mine ring a bell by the door to the backyard.  If the baby gate is up and they can't get to it, Rosco barks at the baby gate.  Boca has never done anything in particular to let us know...but that hasn't been an issue because they get to go out so much.

Cooper never caught on to ringing the bells. They still hang by the door but the cats are the only ones interested in them

 

If we are in bed, Cooper will run from the bedroom to the front door - Im a light sleeper and wake to the pitter patter of her feet on the wood floor. I usually wait a while, and often Coop will go back to sleep, if not she starts "crying" - whining.

 

If we are up she either runs between me and the door or sits next to me crying (she never seems to ask DH to take her out, always me)
