Ozzy was outside having a good time playing in the rain and getting full of mud. Well this doodle mom could only think of the mess that was about to enter my house and I called for Ozzy to come inside. Happy and carefree Ozzy came running right in wagging his tail and I grabbed his collar to make sure I dried him and got this mud off but, Ozzy ran in on my tile floor and slipped as if he was skating..my arm was still holding his collar trying to make sure that my wet muddy doodle did not get hurt..I am the one that ended up with a torn rotator cuff and now have to have surgery...I am not going to be able to walk Ozzy for months....I never expected that to happen and never guessed how strong Ozzy really was until now. Next time I will take the mud.

OH NO, that is terrible :>( I feel sooooo bad for you. These doodles are very very strong. Never under estimate that. No matter how small or big they are. Lucy was running around the yard one day and hit my DH right on the side of his leg, knocked him down and then came by him again and hit him in the head with her body. He was lucky that nothing happened to him. They get sooooo excited, you have to be careful. Torn rotator cuff, OOCH!!! My prayers go out to you.
We are so sorry to hear of your injury and hope that you recover quickly.

Holly is not that big as doodles go (about 60 pounds at 20 months old) however, she is quite strong. Once while recovering from back surgery I was doing my exercises on a floor mat in the living room. and I found that I just couldn't get up. Judy, my wife, wasn't home so I called Holly.

I remembered reading about an assistance dog that helped his mistress stand so I put my arm around Holly's neck and she helped me get up. She had no problems with my leaning on her.
Prayers for a very speedy recovery.
Oh No! That hurts. My wife hurt her rotator cuff on vacation. It was only a partial tear that did not require surgery.

I feel for you. Can you walk him with the leash in your other hand?

These doods are much stronger than they look. We tend to only see their intelligence and their fluff, and forget that there is a very strong retriever in side.
No I don't think I will take the chance and use the other arm right now....Ozzy's dad will have to walk him for awhile. I would not want two arms out of commission. How long did it take for your wife to recover. Hope all is well now.
Oh Marianne, I feel your pain....being as I am still sporting a black eye and sore knees from my own clumsiness while running with Murphy. I tripped, but still, a fall is a fall. I think Murphy could pull a freight train if need be. You can try tying a leash around your waist maybe. Saw it on TV in some dog training show. I hope your recovery is quick..and watch out for sliding doodles!!!
Oh Gosh! Hope you feel better soon!
Oh so sorry about your injury! When I let my doodle in through our bedroom she is able to walk almost directly into the shower to get wahsed off. Any mud on the carpet in the br gets vacuumed up later :) Works out great!
Divot pulled me off balance behind to my left, he had been healing great but a dog behind us was being aggressive. I went flat
in the street and ended up with road rash on my knee, hands, and nose and a few sore sore spots. Bob was trying to help me and get Divot. Divot came back on his own and looked at me like, why was I laying on the street. He is 60 lbs, 2 yrs old and very quick. I've learned to be very observant of possible distractions! Hope you feel better soon.
Wow, it is amazing that our sweet doodles don't know how strong they really are, I now have learned and will never under estimate the power of a doodle...LOL
