Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Ok, I have been to the group with multiple doodles and I just have to say that I'm soooo jealous! My doodle girl is 8 months old (almost), and I desperately want another doodle. The DH has reservations. He thinks it's perfect with one why mess up a good thing. I say it's perfect with one, but how much more perfect would it be with two! I know many of you have multiple doodles so I would love any input you could give me on the wonder of having multiple doodles. I want to put this in my arsenal of evidence to convince my DH that we need to get our girl a playmate and become a double doodle family. I also know there are a few of you on here with one hoping for another so if you want feel free to commiserate here!

We have 3 including one that is a "Special Needs" doodle. Adding a second is easy. After the initial training they keep each other company and do watch out for each other. Also there are times when one of them will be cuddled up with me another with my wife and one with our daughter or son. Just more love to go around.
I agree! Bringing in the second Doodle was easier than the first. The new one will follow the older one to do like they do. They have each other to play with, to share with, to go inthe yard with. I'll never have just one again.
All I have to say is... It's not fair that my DH is a co-administrator of the site--I can't have any secrets from him on here! No planning of 3rd doodles...

2 is really not much harder. They entertain each other!
Perhaps you could post in pig latin, lol
We adopted Kirby when he was 13 months. Except for the first few weeks of getting him comfortable being here, it's really not much more difficult having 2. Going places and boarding them are 2 exceptions. Adding a 2nd young puppy would be more work (potty training, etc).

We both work full time and really didn't want Dexter to be alone so much. Adding Kirby has worked out so well. We now give both doodles run of the house when we're away. They play together so much and really tire each other out. We still walk them, etc, but most of their energy is burned playing with each other.

It's important for both of you to be on board with this. Give it a few months...maybe borrow a friend's dog for a day to see what it would be like with 2 dogs.

Good luck :)
Truthfully once the 1st doodle is trained the 2nd learns from him/her.
They ARE the smartest pups in the world!!
Adding number 2 is easier then number one, they are so happy to play with each other.
Check and see if there is a Doodle Romp in your area, and make sure DH goes along with you.
He'll see how much fun 2 doodles are, and a gang of doodles...well it is so much fun to watch.
Good Luck...you can do it!!
If he doesn't want to buy one from a breeder, check out the 'rescue doodle' pages...so many homeless pups looking for a
2nd chance!!
I made a deal and had a garage sale to earn the money, plus do something he wanted done for a while....you know he will love the 2nd doodle either way?!?!?!?! Good luck. More than anything I'm happiest because my doodles have each other. It melts my heart to see them together every single day!!
My Mom and Dad actually have a doodle too. His name is Duke and he's on DK. We get them together a lot and they get along great. It's one of the reason I want another one. Although they are awesome together, Duke doesn't always want to play with Fenway because she's so young and wants to play all of the time and he's 3 1/2 and likes to chill out some. I want to get one, like some of you have said, while she's young and still able to appreciate the fun. I may see if Duke can come stay the weekend with us. It won't be quite the same since he's so very well trained, but it will give us some idea. We actually borrowed him for several weekends and then for a whole week before deciding to get Fenway. He's part of why we knew we were ready for a dog. Don't know why I haven't thought of this yet. Thanks for all of the advice. I'm forming my argument now.
I had 4 dogs Before Doodles.[ BD] I am sure most think that is nuts. All were well trained. When I started introducing my doodles it was all so easy. The doodles just followed along with the flow. Now I have up to 12 dogs in my house at one time. Thank goodness they don't shed or smell or I guess that wouldn't be happening. They all get along well and they know that running around and wrestling is done outside only. My doodles are between 8 months and 3 years old. 2 3yrs old, 3 almost 2yrs old, 2 1yr old, 5 8months old, 4 6months old and 8 7wks old.
Just had to update everyone. My DH finally relented last night, but told me very firmly that this would have to be it until we are in a bigger house. I'm so excited I can't contain myself! I can't wait for our new baby. I had already done all of my homework before asking so I already had a breeder, had visited her, checked out her testing, checked with the labradoodle and goldendoodle premium breeder association and everything. I will be sending our deposit in today and we should have our very own goldendoodle at the end of April, begining of May! Thanks for all of the advice and information. It looks like I'll finally get to join the group I've been so jealous of!
Congratulations. I'm in the same predicament. We have a 2 year old doodle who loves to play sooo much, he thinks 2 would be double trouble. I'm trying to convince him that they'll both tire each other out and one almost trains the other. From all the things mentioned on this site, hopefully that will work. I too had 4 cockers at one time, so 2 is nothing for me. lol I hope everything works out well with the new baby, Eva
