Hugs
I'm a rookie Doodle mama so please bare with me if this is a silly question. Are Doodles known for giving hugs to their owners (aka Mama and Daddy)? I've had dogs all my adult life and never had a dog hug me. But Penny hugs with her front legs around my neck and nudges and kisses me at the same time. She seems to love to do this. I love it of course, and I feel so "honored" that this precious animal wants to be so affectionate. She hugs from in front of me and from behind. At first, she only did it a few times but now it's becoming a daily thing. She hugs my husband too. I'm so excited about this! I've seen it in various photos on the Web, but never expected my own puppy to do it. She has not been taught this; she just does it on her own. Awwwwwww! How can you NOT melt when your 4 1/2 month old puppy hugs you?!? I wish I had a photo of it but I don't. It's improntu (sp?) so we never have a camera ready.

It IS so sweet...she's been a love bug from the beginning but she really surprised me with the hugging gesture. :-)

Both of my Doodles are really affectionate, but neither of them have figured out yet how to give me hugs. It is very sweet...I'd love to see pics of this.

I wish I had pictures of this! But unless we constantly carry a camera on us at all times, we can't capture the moment. Penny does this "unannounced" so we aren't prepared. LOL! One day we'll get lucky and get a photo by pure coincidence.

Remember you are obviously reinforcing this. My guess is that she did this once and got a positive reaction from you so she is continuing. Would love to see a picture.

Oh yeah, we react very positively to our hugs. I'm hoping to get a photo. If I sit on the floor or squat down or sit on the steps outside, that helps so I'll make sure my hubby has a camera when I do that. We'll see...

Getting closer to capturing a photo. She does this now a couple times a day. She is most definitely reacting to the way I'm reacting! Only problem, I need someone else around, at the time, to take the picture. LOL! Trying a selfie with a dog hugging you isn't ideal. I can't even get a decent regular selfie of Penny and me. But DH said he'd try to get a photo this weekend. Wish us luck.

We finally got some photos of the "famous Penny hug". Don't know how to embed photos here so they are on my photo page. (With 3 dogs in our house, we keep our furniture covered with sheets except if we have company over).

Thanks. If we are down on the floor, forget it; it's over--we will be lavished with hugs and kisses. For these photos, we got down on the floor on purpose hoping for this photo op. Yay! :-)

The reason I didn't embed the photos is 'cause I'm on an iPad and the instructions are for a PC, apparently. The directions don't work for my device.

Awe. Well, she looks very happy.
I think you can upload photos under your discussion or with the edit tool at the top. I'm on the iPad too, and it works just a little different. You'll figure it out. We just can't insert the photos into the conversation, but it can be an attachment.
