Toby had his neutering surgery a week ago yesterday. He's been really good at leaving it alone, so in the house, when I can watch him, I leave him uncovered (no cone or t-shirt). I looked down a minute ago, and he was licking. I told him to stop, and since he assumed the doodle pose - flat out on his back - I could see a pin prick of blood. I do believe he pulled out his remaining stitches. I say remaining because when we went for his antibiotics on Saturday, the vet told us he didn't have many stitches left, which was a surprise to me. We go back in Saturday for a recheck and stitch removal, and I have a feeling the vet won't have much to remove. Hope I don't get in trouble! I've tried to be a good, diligent doodle mommy.

I wouldn't worry too much - we were told after a week they were pretty much healed and the extra few days keeping them "calm" is just to be extra safe.

Hope it all turns out well :)
Thomas will be neutered in two weeks-sounds like fun! NOT. I'll be happy when this is overwith. any advice? would be appreciated.
Advice - hmmm. Well, first off, I was not prepared for how out of it Toby would be when we brought him home. It broke my heart. So, be ready for Thomas to REALLY not be himself. Pick up lots of his favourite bones/chewies to keep him busy. He'll likely start feeling much more himself by day three or so, and that's when it gets tricky. We put our gate back up across the stairs so Toby wouldn't run up and down. Also, the cone did not work for us. As you can see by my pictures, Toby wore an undershirt instead. He couldn't get at the stitches, and he still fit in his crate, and was comfortable. If I think of anything else, I'll add it, but mostly it's just gutting it out and making it through. Good luck!
Watch out for accidents(peepee) Cotton was prety much trained but the day we brought her home she was soooo groggy that she wet the floor. She hasn't done it since. She was very sleepy that first night but bounced back to her old self. We had no trouble with the stitches and Cotton didn't wear a cone except for the first day. I had this tube shaped neck warmer that I put around her middle and she was very comfortable. Yes, Cotton is perfect, NOT just our love.
What type of tube shaped neck warmer did you have?
