Living in NJ this will be my first major hurricane. What do you do with a dog, that's never been paper trained, when you can't go outside for two days?
This may sound gross..but can you get some of your dogs pooh and leave it on a newspaper in the garage or an area youre not using ..so they may know its ok to go there? Just a suggestion. Be safe and thoughts are with all you east coasters!!
The garage is now stuffed with the car garbage cans and outdoor paraphenalia. By tomorrow the dining room will be stuffed with outdoor potted plants. Porch cushions should add to the decor. And so on.
Mine will go outside in the rain. It wouldn't be Webber's first choice, but Seda doesn't care about the rain. The downside is the clean up when they come back in the house. Get lots of towels ready! There are times when the winds are calm, so it is possible to sneak out unless this beast sits over New Jersey for hours and I hope that is not the case. Do you have a garage?
We do have a two car garage but it's filled to capacity with my husbands and son's STUFF. Hudson will go out in the rain but I was thinking that if it's as windy as they say it might be too dangerous to try it. Our tree roots are already compromised due to heavy rain and our trees tend to fall in mere rain storms. I don't know what to expect during a hurricane.
I do think your garage is your best bet. I'd clear a small section - lay down plastic trash bags, top with a layer of newspaper and collect some poop to lay on it. Then I'd just hope that storm doesn't get that bad. Stay safe.
Good advice. I also pray that the storm does not get as bad as predicted, however, after an unprecedented earthquake we better prepare for the worse and hope for the best.
