There as been some recent discussion about dogs on the furniture and where your dogs sleep so I was just wondering are these the rules at your house.

 

Dog Rules
The dog is not allowed in the house.
Okay, the dog is allowed in the house, but only in certain rooms.
The dog is allowed in all rooms, but has to stay off the furniture.
The dog can get on the old furniture only.
Fine, the dog is allowed on all the furniture, but is not allowed to sleep with the humans on the bed.
Okay, the dog is allowed on the bed, but only by invitation.
The dog can sleep on the bed whenever he wants, but not under the covers.
The dog can sleep under the covers by invitation only
The dog can sleep under the covers every night.
Humans must ask permission to sleep under the covers with the dog.

This is true in my house, but JD doesn't want to sleep under the covers, he gets too warm.

The dog can sleep on the bed whenever he wants, but not under the covers.
(I also put a flat sheet on top of my duvet and change it every week, whereas I change the actual sheets every two weeks.)

My biggest inconsistency is that I insist the kids do not put shoed feet on the furniture, but the dog?  He can walk all over the furniture.  And he's the one who likely steps in his own and others' urine.

LOL  Melissa I have the same rules about the kids and their shoes but Hunter can do as she pleases LOL

LOL LOL OMD This sounds like my DH's rules when we were getting Hunter! Aside from the sleeping in our bed but that is because Hunter likes to sleep on the love seat not because she isn't allowed!

O.K. - I was like Rooney is NOT allowed on the furniture and will sleep in his crate.  Then it was -  he can get on this one chair but not our new, custom leather sectional . . . . . well unless we are right there with him and his nails have been cut.   Then came the night I lifted him up on the bed - the rest is history.  LOL

LOL--that sounds like about the right progression, except the dog was always allowed in the house.  I confess I tried to put the covers over him one cold night, but he thought that meant it was playtime.  :)

LOL. I love the progression of the rules.

 

Darwin is allowed in all rooms, on all furniture. He's allowed on the bed during the day but he sleeps in his crate during the night.
