My husband is self employed and has an office in a small plaza near our house where he and our son work. Usually on Monday Thomas doodle goes to work with him and our son has started to also bring his six month old French bulldog Wilfred. Last Monday the dogs were playing together when my husband Jack got a phone call from his brother telling him that Jack's father had passed away an hour earlier. Jack told me later that day that while he was on the phone "instantly" the dogs stopped playing and that our thomas came and sat by the desk looking up at Jack. Wilfred also sensed something as he just sat behind thomas also looking at Jack. There was no gasping...crying...or loud voices to alarm them but these dogs sensed that something was amiss. Jack just couldn't believe it and my son also said it was really something to see and that the dogs stayed very quiet for the rest of the day...as if they knew.
So sorry for your loss. Neely has done similiar actions with me when I have been extremely upset and crying, something I don't do unless I am in really bad shape. Thomas and Neely came from the same breeder maybe they share this trait.
Your dogs obviously are very tuned in with your feelings and could sense your husband's feelings. How wonderful for your family to have such comforting dogs.
