Normal temp in a dog is 99 - 102.5. How high is his?

104.2

I'm so sorry Jennifer. I found this info about dogs and fevers. Sorry I couldn't get it to paste into this site. Perhaps monitor him and call your vet in the morning. Watch for other symptoms. Can one of your friends take him in to see the vet for you if need be? I know it is hard to be separated.

I'm heading back to bed. Will check on you guys later.

Does he have any other symptoms...what caused you to take his temp?

Jennifer,   I am so sorry that Jack has a fever.  Does he have any other symptoms?   Is he acting ok?  Eating, drinking, pooping?   Not coughing or having any kind of discharge from his nose or eyes?   These are the things I would watch for.

My Cooper runs a "normal high" temp all the time of 102.9-103.   The first time I took him to the Vet with a runny nose and cough, she thought he had a temp, but everytime he has had his temp checked since it has been the same.  Even when he was obviously NOT sick.

I am sure that 104.2 is abnormal though.    I am wondering the same as Jane, what prompted you to take his temperature?    What other symptoms does he have?

I haven't been on DK much, but I read that you have been very ill too.   Hope you are improving as well.   I have added  you both to my prayer list.

I'd call the vet or have someone call for you.  Hoping Jack is feeling better soon!

Any signs of illness besides the fever? Is he eating and (more importantly) drinking water? Acting lethargic? Panting excessively?

If you see other signs of illness, I would call the vet.

Oh goodness, Jennifer!  I am so sorry that Jack is sick!  I can tell you are upset and it sure doesn't help that you yourself feels so poorly!  I hope by now that you have called your vet and will get a "home visit."  Keep us posted, if you are able!

Hugs and paws crossed for both of you.

Has he been taking enough fluids regularly ? Keep us posted? I know you don't need this now, so let's hope it's just a passing thing.

Is he lethargic?  If so get the vet to visit.  He may have an infection.  This was a recurring problem for Gavin and we found out he had a low grade kidney infection.  He was totally lethargic - layed on his side and stared glassy eyed. His temp was 104.3.  Oh yeah, he was refusing food.

Sandy thanks for the update on Jennifer. I'm so sorry to hear she is being readmitted and that Jack is sick and now home alone. Keeping them both in prayers.
