Let's REALLY get to know each other.

Between getting to know everyone with Yappy Hour and the game of 3 truths and one lie, there is so much to learn about everyone and there are some really interesting and talented people on DK. I would love to know some of the vital statistics like: Age, Married, Children, their ages, professions, hobbies, a dream or goal you have before you get too old to do it. Things that aren't on our profile page already. With all the photos of ourselves we can now put the whole picture of the DK member together.

I'll start:

I am 57 and have been married to my highschool sweetheart for 39 years this May. We have two grown children, Michele 36 and Erik 30 who are both married and live nearby in Az. We have one grandson, Ethan,20 months old, who is my sunshine. I am a Labor and Delivery Nurse, somewhat semi retired and DH is a retired Fire Fighter. I love to make quilts and give one to every family member and so far have about 16 done and about 23 to go. I love to run, work out, be outdoors, garden, read, and spend time with family and doodles. One of my biggest goals is to hike the Grand Canyon rim to rim and also to see Europe someday. Other than that, my dream of being a mom and grandmother is being realized every day.

We all have heard the "what doesn't kill ya makes you stronger" bit, so I won't say it. And how amazing that you are getting your MPH in May. The thought of going back to school these last few years would've put me over the edge I think.

Sue, that was definitely scary. It was post Katrina when everything was incredibly unstable. But after getting a divorce...what the heck...it was a walk in the park.

I am 51 years old and have been married to my husband, Brian for going on 4 years (although we have been together for 15 years, we didn't want to rush into anything. lol) We do not have children, opting for the 4 legged variety. I live in Lake Tahoe California, a beautiful mountain ski resort town on the lake. We live on the stateline next to Nevada with a handful of casinos downtown. I worked at one of the casinos for 18 years as a blackjack dealer then pit boss. I my mid 40's I decided to go back to school and get into healthcare. I now am a x-ray technologist and love it. It is much more rewarding than my prior career. During the winter I work at a medical clinic at one of the ski resorts, it is the best gig ever! I take Stella to work with me sometimes, it is really laid back. I love to ski and snowshow in the winter and in the summer I hike and like to work in the garden or just chill at the beach. We love to travel too. I had the most perfect trip planned for Italy and France last spring but had to cancel it. Our wonderful, beloved English lab, Rocket got cancer and we could not leave him. He was the best , most mellow dog ever and truly an "old soul". Insted of taking our trip after he passed, I needed something furry to fill the void and ease my grief and that is where Stella comes in. And she came in like Hell on Wheels! We found out what it was like to have a "real puppy". She has since settled down and is becoming a great dog. This web site was a great help to me and still is. What a great group of people!

Oh who needs Italy and France when you have Stella the Real puppy!  Sorry about Rocket though. Our Bella is part English so maybe that's the old soul part in her too?

I think I have already revealed enough about myself in prior posts, in fact more than I ever intended on a public forum!  But I just have to say that I am very proud to be associated with such a fabulous and accomplished group of individuals.  World peace you want?  Just turn the problem over to the DKers and they will solve it!  Seriously!

I have beeen a DK member for over 2 years and have read many discussions on the forum that were posted by or included responses from many of the people who answered so far on this discussion.  Reading about you has been marvelous.  It made me think though...that during this two years I knew very little about my fellow members.For example.. I was SO surprised to here that Camilla (Darwin) is only 21 years old!! I assumed she was older.  Her Darwin is my Thomas' twin and we have communicated about this on the forum several times. When I read the posts I guess I just assume that everyone is my age!  (undisclosed but older than 21!!)  It is so interesting to find out more about everyone and Camilla...if you read this...Bravo to you as you show a maturity beyond your years.  Thanks for sharing your stories everyone.
