Quick update on Linus. I left this morning at 5:25 AM to pick Linus up and arrived about 12:30 PM. I ran into very hard rain about 2 1/2 hours into my trip and it continued right up to just before I arrived. Once we had introductions and a brief visit with his foster family, Linus an I departed for Georgia under threatening skies. It didn't take long for them to unleash their fury on us for the next 3 1/2 hours.
Linus, about and hour into the trip got sick. I cleaned up and started again, but he got sick again shortly afterwards. Cleaning up the second time, I was out of clean up stuff, I dropped the A/C to 65F and put all the fans on high. After about 20 minutes he became comfortable and finally settled into a good sleep. He slept for almost 3 hours.
When we arrived home I let him out of the car and he ran free. Maybe for this first time in his life. He had a lot to explore and he did. After he was finished we let our pack out one at a time with Honey first, then Guinness and finally Rosco. They were all excited and hit it off right away, however, Honey, being the matriarch she has become started to put him in his place and he understood.
The little fellow is in poor shape. Besides his medical problems he is very malnourished, probably never has had any training in the basic commands nor has he had the opportunity to enjoy being free. Seems he has been a crate dog most of his life.
We have a lot of work to do, but he seems willing and he seems smart enough to learn quickly. First and foremost is his health so to the vet we go as soon as possible then we will work on manners and the other basics.
I will, probably not post any updates for a few days for I need to rest and he needs to get adjusted.
Thank you everyone for your uplifting comments and well wishes. We will do our best to make sure his "Furever Family" has a physically and mentally healthy Doodle when they come for him.
