Would someone please post a picture of a medium size doodle? I would love to confirm what they look like. My neighbor has a Goldendoodle that's the size of a pony. I prefer a smaller size. Thanks in advance.
THere is a group on here for Medium/Mini doodles--check it out and you might find some members who have photos on their page and are members of that group.
Spud is 51lbs. He was supposed to be 60-65. You can see a lot of his pictures on my page also. Right now my 4.5 month old puppy is almost his size. :) You just never know.
Hi...welcome to Doodle Kisses! I see you have some other posts about hypoallergenic questions and breeders. You are receiving good feedback from great members. I can help with the size. If the size is a huge deal (read some other responses in your other posts), it would be safest to go with a mini. I have a mini. Peri is 25 pounds and 16" tall. She is the smallest of her siblings, with most being a few inches taller and 30-40 pounds. It is really hard to predict the size of a standard, mini or medium litter because you just never know. One of Peri's best friends is Astro, a standard doodle, whose mom is on Doodle Kisses. He is the biggest in his litter, and is 80 pounds at almost a year. His siblings are slightly smaller, most in the 70ish range, with one or two in the 60s (I believe, Yvonne or Michele can correct me on this). I was even talking to someone who had a "mini" who ended up being almost 50 pounds! Just telling you this to let you know that sizes can really range, even within a litter. I am posting a photo of Peri...I am in it to show you her relative size. Keep in mind I am petite, at only 5' tall.
Peri is perfect and adorable. I have already decided, after reading these responses and viewing pictures, to check out mini's which aren't as small as I initially thought they'd be. I just need to find a breeder that will allow me to visit with the puppies in and outdoors along with an adult dog to see how they affect my allergies.
Hi there! Otto is my chocolate medium sized labradoodle and he is the best pup we've ever had. He is 3 now and weighs about 38-40 lbs which makes him more like a lab than the poodle body type. Good luck in your search...
What would you say the difference in temperament and trainability between labradoodles and goldendoodles? My allergist told me to stay away from labs and lab mixes.
The difference would ONLY be as much as the difference between labs and golden retrievers. Study up on labs and golden retrievers. There was just this discussion this past week..if you click on "Forum" at the top and then click on the category "Discussing Doodley Things" look over the past 5 pages or so of discussions and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Thanks to all of you in just two days I am so much more informed. I realize that I have much more to learn so I will continue to read the forums and blogs. I am not rushing into doodle ownership. I've waited 50 years to own a dog so a couple of more months of me learning how I should prepare the house, taking my allergy medicine (nasal spray), looking for a good vet and making sure that I can tolerate a doodle will not hurt. I don't plan on purchasing until late May or June. Thanks for sharing your pictures and knowledge.
