Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Brody is a 5 year old Labradoodle who is fostered in St. Petersburg, FL. He was relinquished to the DRC by his family for the usual reasons of "busy with the kids' activities, no time", etc.

Petfinder has been having technical issues which are preventing the DRC from listing the new dogs in the program. There are several who have not yet been listed, including Brody. No listing means no way to let potential adopters know about Brody, so his foster mom has written a blog about him which you can read Here

From the blog:

"Brody is completely house trained and according to his family, has never destroyed anything in the home when left alone. He slept on his own bed either in the family room or in the parent's room. Because I have a small 10 lb dog I am currently crating Brody when I am not home and he LOVES his crate.

Brody seems to be an F1B because he doesn't shed although right now he does have a short hair cut. He lets me brush him with no issues and will lay on his back for belly rubs. Although he isn't tall Brody is stocky and weighs approximately 70 lbs. He is up to date with shots and neutered :)

Brody knows sit, paw, down and go to bed :) He had a benign tumor on his tail which they amputated when he was around 3 years old so now he has a cute stubby tail. He is a known counter surfer who will play fetch but needs to work on dropping the ball on command. He is known to de-stuff his toys :) His family said he is not fond of cats.

Brody does need some work walking nicely on a leash. He was not taught not to jump to greet people but we have been working on it since he got here last Tuesday and he's already pretty much stopped jumping with us. He definitely needs a strong pack leader. Someone who will set boundaries re: jumping, how to greet people and other dogs, etc. I would love for Brody to get a home with a fenced in yard since this is something he's never had."

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Brody, the first step is to read the DRC's Adoption Policies: http://doodlerescue.org/notes/DRC_ADOPTION_POLICIES_AND_PROCEDURES

And then submit an adoption application: http://doodlerescue.org/page/adoption-application-2

Brody says "thanks for reading! I can't wait to meet my new mom or dad!"

Oh wow! What a stunning guy( in a goofy kind of way). Hoping he finds he forever home quickly!.

OMD he's adorable!

He is a sweetheart!

I'm sure someone wonderful will adopt Brody. He is a beautiful dog and I love his black coat.

What a gorgeous boy!  Karen, thank you for giving him a wider audience, and thanks to the family who is fostering this beauty.

Hoping for the best for Brody!!

Brody is a beautiful boy.....hoping he finds his forever family.

Brody, somewhere out there is a very lucky family!!!!     You are a handsome boy for sure!

I noticed the doodles listed on the main page had dwindled.

Yes, and it's really a problem. There are at least half a dozen new dogs in the program who need to be posted, and many more waiting to come into the program. It's apparently the time of year to dump your dog. :(

Do you know of any others in Florida? I know of Brody and Teddy but I have a couple in their 60's that are very interested in getting a rescue Doodle. I showed them Brody's info and they loved him but are afraid he is just too large for them. Teddy is even bigger.

There may actually be another one in FL coming into the program; Adrianne was looking for volunteers in a certain area of FL today.
