I think Bo is gorgeous, even if he isn't QUITE a doodle--love his black and white color scheme and his thick, luxurious looking coat. This photo essay has pics of Bo during his first "term" in the White House--very cute, but looks like President Obama needs some lessons about how to control a dog on a leash!!

These are great photos of the first dog.
I love this one too.
Does anyone remember a TV interview Michele Obama did with Bo at her feet...or at least she was trying to get him to stay at her feet. I think he was about 6 months old and he started to play biting at her sleeve and trying to play tug of war with her jacket. Looks like he's matured nicely and Michele is alpha dog :)
Bo is such a cute dog. Thanks for posting.
"OMPWD!"
LOL Kimmy!
Love those pictures and Bo is gorgeous! How nice to have an "live in" trainer! Putting that on my "wish list"! Those cookies were so cute for the Holidays (of course I would zero in on cookies). A great family dog and I'm sure the girls are thrilled to have Bo!
We once had an AKC Champion Portuguese Water Dog and while I agree that these dogs are very likely right up there in intelligence with doodles, the PWD we owned had a very different personailty. She was a rough and tumble dog while Holly has always been gentle. Our PWD's favorite play activity with her sister would be for the two dogs to run at each other full speed, jump in the air and crash together - like football players celebrating.
Our PWD was a darling dog and didn't have a mean streak in her body but, playing rough - she inadvertently killed a tiny Maltese puppy by trying to play with it like she played with her sister. This happened so fast that we were not able to prevent it. We had the puppy on the floor and the PWD had opened the sliding screen door and entered the room. We didn't know she was in the room. She obviously wanted to play and a forty pound dog landing on a one pound puppy is a recipe for disaster.
Contrast this with Holly who somehow has always known that she needs to be gentle with puppies. When puppies are walking around, Holly will lay down on the floor so as not to step on one of them. She has done this since she was a young dog. We never leave her alone with puppies running around but when we are present, we have absolutely no fear that she will hurt a puppy. This is true indoors and out doors.
Our PWD accepted the adult Maltese but never seemed to bond with them. OTOH, Holly will bond with every Maltese rescue we bring into our home (117 Maltese passed through our home as fosters in 2009-2011). It doesn't matter if the Maltese has been attacked by big dogs and is intitially frightened by Holly's great size. (Holly's 55 pounds is really big when you only weigh 7 or 8 pounds!). It doesn't take Holly long to win over even the most frightened Maltese. She doesn't get angry if they at first growl, bark or even nip her. She takes it in stride with immense patience, She soon has these frightened little dogs taking a nap with her. Holly is our Therapy Dog for Maltese Rescues!!
We always separate our dogs at meal time, but occasionally a new Maltese will try for Holly's bowl. Holly is never agressive when this happens. Additionally we never have any fears about leaving Holly alone with her adult Maltese friends. Is Holly the perfect dog? - Probably not BUT SHE IS PRETTY DARN CLOSE!
Holly is a very special doodle, that is for sure!
Holly is such a special girl!
What a Sweet & Special Helper Holly is with all of your Fosters!
