Jack just fell off my bed, remember he is only 12 pounds, He was trying to get a toy up on the bed like he always does, he fell and hit his leg on my oxygen tank or his hip, He scream yelped and then cried for a few minutes. Now he won't walk on it. This is the same leg he got attacked on and it was pulled out of socket. He stopped crying, but now he won't walk on it.
Do I take him to the ER Vet, you know I am so fast to do that. I have to go to a very important doctors appointment tomorrow 2 and half hours away. So if he needs to go, I want to go now, plus if he is in pain I want them to fix him.
What do I do? How do I know

oh jack! please get better soon. we can't have any more injured doodles...Duncan sends his best doodle wishes your way.
hoping you both feel good soon!!!!
I'm really sorry to hear this! Our doodle Dexter tore his ACL 7 weeks ago and I know that terrible feeling when they just won't put any weight on the limb :(
We stayed with Dexter for the first few days he got home, but then we had to go back to work. He was never crated before and has been crated for the past 7 weeks (leaving for potty breaks and now for short walks) and he has adapted to being in a crate and actually seems to like it now.
I just wanted to advise you to definitely consider a crate and that he will get used to it. Good luck and keep us updated.
Wheeeeealmost 24 hours in a long time.. I just got home. I was so, so, happy to come home to find Jack Daniels in the arms of his Auntie Susan, (Sasha's mommy) I had my other friend check on him during the day too He didn't eat or drink anything while I was gone. However, once Auntie Susan heated up some chicken broth, and I gave him my dinner of chicken, Things improved. He ate a decent amount of chicken and drank some as well!!!
He is not himself at all, but he is okay, he is also on pain medications and the important thing is he will be okay which is what matters.
This morning when I took him to his regular vet they gave him a shot to stop him from throwing up and he has not thrown up all day. When he goes out to go potty he is putting some weight on his leg. He seems okay, just mopey.
I am glad I went to my appointment, it was hard to do to leave my baby. I won't discuss my health here since this is a doodle place, but I would appreciate anyone who prays to pray...Thanks.
I can't thank you enough for all your support. It is so funny, the first thing I did when he fell was turn to you guys, not anyone else.. I posted here...
Thank you all again for your encouragement. I feel so bad that I didn't protect him better. We are looking into getting stairs for him for my bed and the guest bedroom where he loves to lay on that bed as well.
I don't have to crate him too much since I am with him most of the time, but when I am not, he will go in his play pen where he was today. He did well there. I chose to not leave him with the vet because I knew he would be scared all day, in a strange place and a crate.
Thank you again Auntie Susan for loving my Jack Daniels so much. Walking in the door and seeing him in your arms made my crumby day better and thank you all of you.
Hopefully we both will be sound asleep soon
Hi Jennifer, so glad to hear you made it to your appointment and that Jack is doing better. I hope his fuzzy love tonight brings you comfort and a very deep sleep.
I am very sorry to hear about your health and will be praying for health to come your way.

Just catching up on things Jennifer...haven't read thru all of the posts but so glad that Jack is on the mend and was well taken care of while you were at your appointment. I definately will keep both you and Jack in my prayers. Jack had an unfortunate accident...and that is what it was...just an accident. There is a fine line between protecting and smothering someone, right? You do protect Jack and you do it great. Don't beat yourself up over it!
I know you have very severe health issues, and I realize this is a doodle site, but the amazing thing about DK is we all have that common bond and since we do, we all care. As difficult as it is, God doesn't give you anything you can't handle, Jennifer. He has his reasons...we usually don't know what they are!
Take care - both of you! Hugs and Prayers - Dori & Rua
Hi Jen, sounds like you are doing all the right things!! So glad you were able to make it to your appointments today. I was thinking of you guys and last night when Bandit was in bed with us I made sure to block him in with some pillows. How cool that Susan of Sasha could watch Jack for you!! I am sure it was so much better knowing he was at home rather than the vet office. I am keeping your health too in our prayers. many doodle hugs are on the way, may you get some good rest tonight!!
