Does anyone's older/adult doodles, (mine are 7 and 5), still have episodes of ZOOMIES?
I always assumed it was a puppy thing that they grew out of and just when I think Murphy has done just that, he'll jump up like lightning struck and start running around the yard, possessed! It only happens rarely, and only in the evening when he has a zoomie attack. Maybe 3 -4 times a year.
So do they ever really "grow out" of zoomies or is it once a zoomer, always a zoomer?

Tara is still a zoomer at six! Plus she does zoomies with what we call "flybys" where she zooms toward us and then right before she reaches us she leaps into the air so she is airborne by the time she goes past us! It is so funny! Go zooming doodles-long may you zoom!
I can just see Tara doing this! Our standard poodle used to do that too! I love it.
Oh, I'll bet that looked awesome with those long poodle legs!
OMG Ricki! That is funny and scary at the same time. I could see my Bella doing that, if she zoomed. She just never has participated in the sport of Zoom.
I may not have explained it well, Sue. She is flying past in front of us not directly toward or into us, more from side to side. She sails by but turns her head to look at us and always has a big smile. I just can't help but smile back!
That is too funny!
I wonder if Clancy ever had zoomies. We got him at 2 and he hasn't ever had a bout of zooming around. We loved Ned's zoomies. He would run out the dog door, zoom around the yard (hoping for the sprinklers to be on), rush back into the house (hopefully dripping), and race around the house, jumping on and off furniture and us. We just laughed. He hasn't done that in forever, but will zoom around if off-leash at the beach when it is just us. When he does this, he also 'attacks' Clancy who is just galumping around in innocent, joyful abandon, never noticing he is about to get pounced on.
What Ned has always done and continues to do is a milder form of the zoomies. Every morning - EVERY morning - just as I wake up, he grabs toy and jumps on and off the bed, chortling and dancing on our bodies. He is just so happy that a new day has started and wants to share it with us. Sometimes he is not so welcome! :-} He also gets a short bout of zooming after a brushing session or if I spray him with detangler.
That Ned! Crazy wild guy. I'd say the "good Morning Zoomies" would be a fun way to wake up. My two always make me laugh in the morning when the come to the side of the bed and put paw and snout right near my face. However if I stay still they will go away. It would be a lot harder to ignore Ned!
Like F and Calla and Luca, Roo and Tigger have an older variation of the zoomies nearly every night. They will both be sleeping or at least settled and suddenly one or the other will give a sharp bark and zoom for the door, The other follows, their is a brief barking battle over who is going first through the door into the laundry room and then out the dog door. Once outside they just sniff around and it's over This is repeated several times some nights, only once or twice most nights.
Even if they have doodle romped, walked, and "had dinner out" they will do this at least once.
It is so funny to watch.
Makes you wonder what was the thought or spark that gets them suddenly up and going? I always wonder "Where did that come from?"
Lucy's a zoomer at 6 yrs old, but like Murphy, only in the yard, and only rarely. Oscar never had the zoomies, but he tries to keep up with Lucy when she gets them. He's in it for the chase :) I'd say once a zoomer, always a zoomer... lol.
