Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I'm contemplating getting a goldendoodle puppy and have been researching this site extensively. What has struck me is the adorable unique names and the more popular names for doodles. I notice a lot of Coopers which is perfect for a little boy. I also see a lot of Belle's and Bella's for little girls.

Share your doodle's name and how you came up with them! I just might find one for my future doodle.

Sedona is named after Sedona, Arizona. The area around Sedona is known for its beautiful colored rock/mountain formations - many of the same colors as baby Sedona!
Our first doodle, Hondo, was the color of Hondurus mahagony when he was a puppy, hence Hondo. Our next doodle, Groucho Too, was named for his father, Groucho, because he had the exact same coloring. Groucho was a phantom standard poodle, and the big difference between them in the tail. Groucho Too, of course, has the beautiful goldendoodle tail. Our latest doodle, Harpo, was named after Hondo, starts with h and ends with o, and also because Harpo goes very well with Groucho. So now we have Harpo and Groucho. Everyone says we now need Zeppo and Chico, but I think two of the Marx brothers is enough.
You are all so creative and sentimental in naming your dogs. I have done the same with other animals:
A cat named after Bruce Springsteen
A dog named after my father, Pete
A dog named after the meteor showers, my engagement, and her quest to be a Star in NY City all combined: Starlit or Starlet
Dora and Laz my husband named from his favorite Sci-Fi novels, A Time For Love

......But Spud--My sons used to eat 10 lbs of potatoes a week, my husband used this term for his five God daughters, Spud looked like a little potato, and he used to attack them in the potato basket and use them as balls.

Best wishes on your new puppy and its name.
We are getting our 8 week old puppy this morning. We are calling him Oliver (Ollie) because he is dark brown in color and reminds me of a jar of Kalamata olives :-)
We also considered Joey (as in a baby Kangaroo) since he is an Australian Labradoodle and I liked that too but the name Oliver won a majority vote in our home.
I chose Beckett's name. I'm a big Boston Red Sox fan and he was named after their pitcher Josh Beckett. He's also one of my favorite players.
I'm so glad I started this thread! This has been so much fun and has given me some things to think about~Keep them coming!
there is a group called--What's in a Name. Try there also and review previous discussions about this topic. We all seem to love it again :)
We wanted a scientists name for our pup. We considered Sagan, Hubble, Newton, Kepler, Curie (for a girl), Pasteur, Darwin and Gates. DH also wanted to name our pup Django, because it's his favorite computer programming language...

We ultimately chose Darwin because it was clear, and recognizable. Also, the name Darwin means "dear friend" which I thought was really cute. :-)
Darwin--one of my favorite. I have told you Camilla I considered the name Daria for a girl too :) She was a lab partner of mine. I dearly respected her and she was a GREAT scientist.
Daria is such a pretty name too...
Everyone likes to quote the line from Street Car Named Desire-"Hey Stellaaaaa!" The name just suites her. Also, it is a heck of a good beer!
Many of my pets have been named for old movie stars. We've have Crosbey (yellow lab), Humphrey (cat) & Bogart (black lab). Now we are getting our 1st doodle - an ALD - and I named him Rooney (after Micky of course). Down the road I'd love to get him a little sister and would name her Garland.

I've also had Trooper (a nod to our men in blue) and Bunker (was heavy into golf)

Good luck and enjoy finding the right name.
