Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Some observations from my neck of the woods:
My doodle is a girl of many moods and intentions. She is a ball freak, frisbee nut, and squeaky toy aficionado. She is gentle washer of cats and babies. She is a party girl, half the time she wants to please and the other half she wants to do as she pleases. She is lover of everything and play is tops on her list. She can sit and watch baby bunnies for almost half an hour, she doesn't breathe. She is awesome. She was ecstatic to have a little brother come to live with us, he is one year younger than she, but he's a pint sized herding dog & half her size.
We had Elmer neutered last week, that meant he had to be kept in chill mode for days. He was a trooper and all went well. The two dogs napped against the sides of the x-pen together, or one was in the crate and the other out. They took turns for potty breaks. Journey refused to play. She stood around one afternoon bouncing her ball in her jaws, like a teenager with a wad of bubblegum, had a minor bout of zoomies and that was that. Otherwise she just stands there like yard art or the superintendent of bird watching. She's been waiting for her little brother, but not moping - just hanging out and keeping an eye on things.. She has always had times for herself that are not with him, we rotate and reward,
He got a slow release day and yesterday they were given full run of the house together again. He's off his lead. He's out of the kitchen. He cuddled with her in the sunshine yesterday. She washed him. She wagged her lovely tail back and forth, back and forth. She grinned.
Last night as we were doing our evening routine, here comes Elmer into the kitchen and he looks like a man on a mission. He ducks into the corner of the kitchen where his bed is, grabs something and struts down the hall. We are chatting and watching with no particular interest. A couple more times here comes Elmer and back he goes - and again - he has come and gathered every single one of his plush toys and taken them back to the bedroom and placed them smack in the middle of the floor. Hubby and I are laughing so hard that we could only point as Journey sashayed herself down the hall and promptly flopped right into the pile of critters. He did a fine job of setting her up for a play session, they really had missed their time together and it was so cute how he just picked up the routine as 'before cone'. She is all about play and he is all business, especially the business of play.
My two dogs are nuts - both of 'em! I love it.
