We just had our 6 month old spayed on Friday, she hasn't had any problems eating or drinking but she doesn't seem like she can get comfortable. She was in her crate for a while and I heard her moving around so moved her on the couch and she did the same thing. She'll lay for maybe thirty minutes and then get up and move. She also seems to be digging on the couch which she's never done before. I know that she just had surgery and all dogs can act differently but I just wanted to know if everyone thought this was normal or something I could consult the vet about it. Thanks everyone!

Not sure if this would be anything to be concerned about or not, if it were me I would call the vet just to make sure and get some peace of mind.  She is adorable!

The stitches might be itchy and uncomfortable--not unusual, but worth a call to the vet to be sure.

Bella was like that about 48 hours out and I used an ice pack on her belly off and on. She seemed to settle for longer periods of time then. Do you have any pain meds left?
Yeah the pain meds seem to help a little but she just seems off. I think I might try an ice pack, I also think a call to the vet might help.

I think I have first puppy parent syndrome :(

She lays for a bit then gets up like she was stung by a bee or something. And tonight when we let her out of her crate she ran to our bed and peed. She has never done that, I'm hoping its not spay incontinence even though its only happened once. Just not like her.

If it was incontinence I don't think she would have run to your bed to do it.  Ned peed on a bed once when he was a puppy. I think it was on purpose.

Yeah- her behavior is all off. But I think your not probably not spay in continence...

I would check in with the vet just to be sure & probably put your mind at ease too.

Trixie was similar to yours although I had her spayed at 12 months.  She did not feel great for about 1 week.  She would lay down & actually jump up like something spooked her.  I almost think her incision pulled when she would lay down & the strange feeling hurt or scared her.

I thin k we tend to forget that female dogs have major abdominal surgery of a sort, as well as anesthesia, when they are spayed. I don't think any living creature would feel perfectly OK after that and a little discomfort and change in behavior is not abnormal under the circumstances.

Update! Took Bailey back to the vet this morning and they gave her stronger pain meds, an anti itch medication and Valium to calm her down. They were wonderful and hopefully she'll feel better soon.

Thanks for all the advise and feedback!
