After a year of puppy destruction, several months of house construction and a terrible Northern CA drought we finally bit the bullet on installing a synthetic lawn in the backyard.  The two weeks that it's been in the yard have been nothing short of life changing!

I have to say Oliver loves it and we love it too.  As soon as he stepped on it and gave it a sniff it was instant love.  The pup has enjoyed rolling around in it and has taken many naps in the sun on his new lawn.  I'm looking forward to a rainy winter without muddy paws!
Oliver also got new outside toys that weren't filthy, and because there's no dirt they're staying pretty clean (which is nice when he decides to sneak one in to the house).  He's obsessed with his new squeaky balls.  The only downside has been the temper tantrums being thrown at the back door wanting to go out and play in his new yard.
Any other people out there with synthetic lawns?  Has it held up for you?  Curious to hear other experiences!

How have you liked it so far?  I'm curious to hear about longer term experiences!

Well we've only had it since July but it's great. I do make the dogs go to a potty spot in a rocked area. We have had both pee and poo accidents on it but I clean it up right away and squirt it down good. So far we really like it. :)

ive had it for almost 2 years...its THE BEST investment EVER...no muddy paws, EVER!!!.. I swear when I get a house I would do the artificial grass before installing central ac that's how much I love it!!! lol

Wow, great endorsement!  This was the husband's big push and I was on the fence about it for a long time.  Gotta say it's been amazing to be able to use the yard again!  We're still working on training a potty spot - Oliver is a wanderer and has to find juuuuuussssttt the right place.

I love the pictures. Oliver and the new lawn look great!

Also in N. CA (Vacaville) and for the exact same reason we just installed synthetic lawn last month. Love it so far. We have two types, regular grass and then we installed a putting green and Oakley seems to think it is his play spot to chase the balls into the holes. We haven't gotten much putting practice him when he is outside with us. Lol! The only think I have read to keep in mind is the smell that can be associated with a dog peeing in one spot during the dryer months. Water drains out the spot of urine but during our dryer seasons if you dog tends to find a spot they alway go to to pee it can hold a smell. Water will wash it out and they also sell a spray you can use to clean it. Oakley has a dog run area that is on the side of our house and assesable from his doggie door. This has gravel and he go potty there 99% of the time so don't expect this to be a problem for us. Love the turf so much that we are saving up to do our front yard as well. As you know, it is not cheap to install.
