Is your dog microchipped?

My little guy is due to get microchipped this week, and even though I think microchipping is in general a great idea, I'm just a touch nervous b/c I have read some articles that suggest sarcomas are possible at the microchip site...certainly not the norm by any stretch, but...?

What are your thoughts and experiences with this?

It would seem that the positives pretty well outweigh the possible risks. Your fella will be much safer Chipped.
I agree Ellen, it really does seem that way!
I would chip. If they get loose and loose their collar, they can be identified. if someone steals them, you can prove they belong to you!
Good points, Kaytlin!

Oh, yeah--microchip, definitely--I think the sarcoma idea is pretty far-fetched.

Really? Ok good. It just takes a couple of articles and here I am all worried! :-)
Thats how I know you will be a good doodle mommy :) Doing research, worrying....

Aww thanks Kaytlin. :-) I feel like I could teach a class on worrying!

Tara has a chip and it really gives me comfort to know that she has that added layer of identification on (in) her! As others have said, collars and tags can be lost and then what???
Yes, these are all good points! Thanks for sharing!

Mine are chipped, the chance of them getting lost, loose or stolen are much greater than a rare sarcoma.

Very good point, Sue!
