Ok please be forwared if you are very tender hearted you might not want to read ahead.
i stiill have yet to meet jake but have been talking with his current owner. He says Jake is sweet, playful and loves people and dogs. But he has an obsession with drinking water excessively. I asked about diabetes, renal kidney issues, etc. and his owner says tests were done showing clean results.

Now, I would probably want new tests but the owner also said that his vet thinks its psychogenic water consumption probably brought on by the fact that he is being left in his crate for so long. The owner admitted that he has left jake regularly in his crate up to 20 hrs because he is on the road for his job (omg!) and this sounds like it happens multiple times a week. The owner says he at times restricts jakes water so he can hold it that long in the crate. He's a 6 month old puppy! So when he gets out of his crate he drinks until he throws up. :(

I can't begin to tell you my emotions on this but I feel even stronger about saving this boy. I don't have the owners address but I will be meeting up with him tomorrow. At this point, I am taking Jake.

Please don't bash me as I am trying to get to this dog ASAP. I have no idea whether he has medical issues causing the water intake but from the sounds of it, this doodle has a right to feel like it needs to gulp all the water and food it can, when it can. I am so sad and mad right now.

Any advice would be appreciated but please again, don't bash me. I honestly don't think going in guns blazing is going to help get this dog out of there. And I know what a terrible situation.

Thanks for any support.

That poor puppy.  You can get pet insurance now and have it begin the date he is in your arms.  The sooner the better.  Thank you for rescuing this puppy for a thoughtless, cruel owner.

I would imagin this poor pups coat is matted underneath and he may need a shave down. But first things first. Get him and then you can work gently on everything.

No bashing - go get this puppy and HOLD him, love him - treat him like a dog/child and NOT like a stuffed animal!!!! I don't understand why people get puppies when they don't have the time or LOVE for them!  Keep us posted!!!

I on the no bashing wagon as well.  I read this late last night and though I had missed something if you were thinking people were going to bash you.  Make sure you read the fine print on each of the Pet Insurance policies to see how long the waiting period is for it to begin.  As for the coat, if he hasn't been being brushed and I think you said he was 6 months, the bunnies could just be his coat change or like others said I'm sure the guy isn't cleaning his floors either.  It is really hard to tell.  But if he does shed a little just brushing every day will help tremendously with that.  Good luck today.  Will look forward to pictures as you get settled in.

All I can say is BLESS YOU!!  for saving this poor baby!!!

Everyone is cheering, not bashing.  I am keeping good thoughts that all goes well and Jake is home with you, today.

Quincy does not shed, but we do get little fur balls now and then, and it was especially noticeable when he was loosing his puppy coat.  Nothing like the lab we had before, where you could make stuffed pillows with the hair every day.

Good luck and thank you for having a big heart.

Jen, why would we bash you?  Bless you a thousand times over and I'm hoping that by the end of today, Jake's nightmare is over and he's with you.  You're wise to stay calm and focus on getting the pup.  My advice is buy the pet insurance now, even if you do end up fostering him until he finds a forever home.  OMD 20 hours in a crate over and over! Poor baby.

Poor Jake.  20 hours in a crate day after day for a puppy?  What the @!*% is this guy thinking.  Not at all good for Jake's mental health.  And, water restriction, this is all SO abusive.  You are an angel.

What a horrible situation for this poor puppy.  Bless you for rescuing him.

Good for you!! Can't wait to hear how this story ends--rooting for you!! Remember that the coat changes a lot during the first year or two--a 6 month old dog does not yet have a mature coat and he could just be starting to transition to an adult coat--which increases the shedding and matting that occurs. So, it will  be a while before you know what could be happening with the coat.

Go, Jenn!  Sounds like you've got the perfect attitude for getting this puppy into your home and care.  Hope this horrible guy will give him up without a fuss.  Best of wishes....keep us updated!

Thank you for caring so much for this poor neglected baby and for being willing to take action on his behalf! I hope you have his leash in hand the next time you update us! Fingers and paws crossed here in Oregon!
