Zoë has started to play a game with her water bowl- she will take a few drinks, step back, then pounce into it with both front paws. Water goes everywhere then she runs through house like a crazy dog with wet paws. Has anyone else experienced this? It's pretty hilarious, but we'd like to find a bowl that is designed to prevent this. And yes, we already tried raising bowls off the ground.
Thanks!

That's hilarious, but I for one am grateful this is not a trick Quincy learned!  He does dig in his baby pool outside -  which is so funny.  If he did it inside? Not so funny.  He makes a big enough mess with the water he retains in his beard and drips all over.

Lori, Kona has the drippiest mustache! I shave his beard clean off to help with this, but he is the messiest-faced dog I have ever had. Owen has no drips. I don't get it. I think he drinks and then just leaves his mouth open to walk around and spread the water everywhere.

We try to catch him with a towel, which he hates!  I have wood floors that are fairly forgiving-but it's still a mess.  I am going to go with a short beard- he's getting groomed friday.

I know what you are talking about.... :-)  I had a "swimmer" like that in the house as well. He still does it with water bowls outside. Inside, having a neater feeder stopped this behavior. Love the raised feeder since no water gets spilled (other than what's dripping off their faces...)

Yup that use to be Cally. Then she would dump the rest of it out and start swimming around in it in the dining room.

Love this photo of Auggie!

Ha!  Priceless moment!

How did you get a picture of Jewel,at your house?? LOL
That's what I love so much about this board! So many share such priceless moments and encouragement. Hopefully Casey will also outgrow the love for his water bowl. Of course, he is also the one who LOVES to dig and is always filthy. (Naturally, he is the blond) Cody the black one, really doesn't like to get dirty or wet. He can entertain himself for hours with his bones and balls. Casey won't play with any toys. SO different and SO much fun (and SO much work!)

Our new pup likes to play in the dish also - I've just been all over with supervising him and he has gotten 95% better.  Nope, never had one do that either - my little guy is not a Doodle.     When it rains he loves to play in puddles also.  My Doodle is not interested...

Yesterday my DD and I went to get our hair cut. We were gone 2 hours. When we came home it looked like a pack of dirty raccoons had invaded the house. There were muddy footprints everywhere. As we investigated, we discovered the water dish we keep in the hall bathroom was a slurry of mud, the floor looked like a swamp... mud and water everywhere. The mud was even on the windowsill in the living room! I don't know what the dogs did or who they invited in for a wild and crazy party, but it took the two of us an hour to clean up after the festivities.

This digging in the water dish situation which has only been humorous in the past is now forbidden. The dogs are very unhappy. They both stood in the bathroom last night staring at the place the water bowl used to be. We have always had fresh water available to them on the back patio, but the little dish in the bathroom has been their preference. The dogs are going to have to be dogs now and go down a flight of steps to get a drink. Poor mistreated babies.

We call that dancing in the water bowl at our house! :-}  We went to a very large travel bowl - buddy bowl - http://www.k9power.com/buddy-bowl-assorted-colors-1-2-gallon.html?s...
