Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My three Labradoodles all have different loves--and are practically never overjoyed at the same time--(exception is when I come home after being absent from the house for more than 5 minutes) It got me thinking about a good question for DK-ers--when is your doodle the happiest?
To start off--Mattie, my oldest and smallest LD is happiest whenever there is food to be eaten. She will eat anything and looks forward to every meal for hours. She often barks to go out just so she can come back in in a few minutes and get her reward cookie. Her only other happy time is when she comes upstairs with me to sleep at my feet (the others sleep downstairs!)
Rio, the puppy, who will be 11 months old in just 2 days, loves to chew on cow hooves--he could do it all day and into the night and often does. He also loves to run in circles around the backyard. The other two doods will sometimes chase him but mostly watch him and wonder where he gets all the energy.
His mom Lyric, however, likes cow hooves too but would much rather be guarding the yard. She loves to sit outside the back door and watch for intruders, especially feline ones. They get quite a welcome--lots of barking. She also "greets" anyone walking by the house or down the driveway which leads to two other houses. Luckily we live in a very rural area without much traffic and the neighbors are mostly weekenders from NYC, so she is usually quiet. The guy delivering fuel oil the other day was pretty alarmed though--she is a big softy, but her bark is that of a Great Dane!

I'm guessing your Doodles might also be pretty happy when all those puppies have gone to their new homes and they get their Mommies full attention back as well.
Quincy is at his happiest when there is a ball in the Chuck it ready to throw and a big open field to play in. He is also very excited and happy when one of us comes home after being gone for even a short time.
Playing with doggie friends (especially her best friend Sammy)
Playing with her human pack
When we come home from work
Our two are happiest when they are getting ready to go for a run... almost every day. Owen gets so excited he has to pick something, anything, up in his mouth and prance around while my DH puts his shoes on. They both just wiggle with glee as the leashes are brought out.
Duncan is happiest when he is chasing squirrels. Unfortunately most of the time he is on a leash. But I got a 24 foot retractable leash to use so he can get pretty far before I have to pick up speed along with him. HA! He is also happiest first thing in the morning when we go downstairs to get ready for our morning walk and when I return home from work. Oh and he loves to lay his head on my lap when we chill on the couch.
Kona gets so happy to see her bestest dog friends and her bestest people friends. If she likes you, you will know it ;)
Buddy is the happiest dog I have ever seen when he is on the Beach, he has the look of pure joy on his face and through his body. He also is so happy when he has a particular squeeky ball to play with by himelf or with others. We call this ball the "crack" ball, all the doodles love it at the park and really have a great time chasing it and one another.
Oh, definitely, the beach!
I think a dog (including my dogs) are happiest and most fulfilled when they get to do meaningful work or be off leash to explore.
Happiest when there are lots of humans around or when we go on walks/hikes. She likes dogs too, but she is such a people and crowd pleaser! Last week when we had quite a few people in town, I swear she smiled the whole time.
My two are pretty happy it seems all the time. I want to come back as one of them in my next life.
They are happiest when:
Murphy: His people are with him, in the house, in the car, in the yard, in the pool, in the bathroom, in the garage, at the dog park, in bed at night,...as long as we are with him.
Bella: Goes ballistic whenever I come home. Next would be getting her ears rubbed, or when eating ANYTHING. Even better would be my coming home, give her something to eat and stop in the doorway and rub her ears all at the same time.
Looks like fun for doodles and humans too.
