There is a lot of talk about the upcoming Doodle Cruise in October, 2012, that Jane (Rooney &Stuart) is organizing.

People are also asking if their doodles are invited and unfortunately, the cruise is only for humans. Even if doodles were invited, Fudge and Vern would not be going and here are some reasons why:

First of all, what do dogs even bring on a cruise. Vern eats a lot and I would have to bring a huge amount of food. What if we are out to sea and we run out of dog food? I over pack with just my stuff. How would I fit all that food into my suitcase?

Fudge is not a great swimmer and needs a life jacket most of the time. What if they don't have her size on the boat for the ship's pool? If my suitcase is full of my stuff and Vern's food, how am I going to get a life jacket in there too?

Another big worry....what would happen if they went overboard because they saw a fish in the water and decided to try and catch it.

I think this captain would turn the boat around and pick them up in the water:

But, does this guy look like he would:

I cannot even imagine what Vern would do if he saw this big guy in the water:

Or this on deck: (Remember he is afraid of Lawn Chairs)

It would be fun, though, if they could do this in the water:

We have a real problem keeping their water dishes full at night. I am afraid they might resort to this on the cruise:

Also, Fudge and Vern like to party. My husband and I go to bed early and they could sneak out and get in a lot of trouble. We have all heard of shipboard romances and Fudge does like the bad boys. What if this is what she is doing, while we are sleeping:

Don't get me started on Vern. He can be a follower and if he gets mixed up with the wrong crowd  our trip could be ruined:

Finally, we have all heard about pirates on the open seas and I bet Labradoodles could be a hot commodity on the Black Market. I cannot have anything happen to my Doodles by a group of these guys:

So, all things considered, my two doods are staying home where they are safe and sound.

Loved this post. First off, I think that Vern could likely hide his fear pretty well from that shark. I doubt that anybody would notice if he peed a little in the ocean. And that pup with Fudge looks like a ruffian! Keep him away from her, he can't be good news.
LOL...I know... my nephew pees all the time in the ocean as he is standing next to me. Yuck! I told you Fudge goes for the bad boys :)
Adina, starting a new area. Please do take Natalie into "the woods" while you are all young. It's very special. I would not consider camping anymore. I want lights and indoor plumbing at night. But some of my most special memories are doing national parks in the summer with my boys. There were scary moments, the tarantula, at least I think it was, on a tent flap, one son floating away in the ocean and I'm not a great swimmer, snakes. But enough of that. Gorgeous mountains and rivers and campfires. I'm really sad that I can't hike much anymore. But both my sons went into the "wilds" of NY state this week and I am happy to see that.
I must say Laurie, you do get us started. The tangents go on and on.
It is a gift :)
Laurie, whatever drugs you are on...can I have some??
Doris, I don't even drink.....can you imagine if I did?? LOL
Doris, The reason I do this stuff is because I don't drink coffee :) My mind is clearer......LOL!!
I see you caved to Suzann's request for more pictures!  Fudge and Vern can stay at our house while you and DH cruise - just think what four doodles could learn from each other - especially characters like our doodles.
Kim, Some people just do not appreciate the written word.....LOL!! Thank you for the nice offer....4 Doodles would be an experience, for sure!

Another hilarious post Laurie!!!  Now - for some of you cruise bashers - yes you know who you are - our Doodle Cruise isn't as much about just the cruise - its about cruising with our fellow DKers.  Are the cabins as large as a hotel room - no but on one cruise I was on we had 3 adults in one cabin (2 twin bed and the pullout) and we managed.  As far as the beds here is info from Cruise Critic . com  on the NEW BEDS on Carnival ships.

Carnival Cruise Lines
The Bed: The democratic Carnival offers custom-made Carnival Comfort Beds in all cabins on all ships.
Accouterments: The beds feature duvets made from 100 percent hypoallergenic down, high-quality cotton-blend sheets and satin-stripe pillowcases. And Carnival's cabin stewards have made an art form out of the turndown-service towel animal.
Quirks and Caveats: Cotton-blend sheets aren't
exactly 100 percent Egyptian cotton.

The beds can be singles, I love Dori but I don't want to spoon with her, or for those traveling with their S.O. they get made into a double.  So raspberries to you nay sayers.  We'll host a toast to you at the mid-night buffet!

Here, here :) I say we make them walk the plank!!
