Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We've discussed this before but I am serious - I need to know who might take my boys if something were to happen to both dh & I.  We are traveling out of the country this Saturday for a weeks vacation and I need to have peace of mind.  While we love our parents and children - not a one of them could take BOTH of my boys as they all have dogs of their own, they don't have time to devote or enough space.  If you:

1.  would love my boys as much as your own doodle(s)

2.  promise to never, ever split them up

3.  are mostly home and have the time  and space - Stuart is about 70 lbs now so please keep that in mind

4.  could organize a doodle train to get them from FL

I could leave them to their beloved dog sitter but I would rather them stay in a doodle/DK family if possible.  If you are serious please send me a private email and that way I can leave written instructions - just in case. **********************

I believe that the perfect candidate has stepped forward - I'm thrilled!!!  So now I can go about vacation with a happy heart!!!!  I'll be leaving her contact info with my daughter so that anytime in the future she can be contacted!!!!!  Our approved God-mother can out herself or not if she chooses.  Thanks for understanding my concerns everyone!

Laurie you and your boys would be perfect but 4 doodles?  You'd NEVER get outta the house!!!  LOL.

It does sound like a lot of Doodles :) Actually, Fudge is a girl, so she would have her own little "boy harem." LOL

Oppps - I know Fudge is a girl - a slip of the keyboard - lol, cuz I'm always calling my doods the boys.  Sorry Fudge!

We all know what it's like to wonder. I use to think our Daughter and SIL would take Daisy but when we mentioned it one evening they both looked at each other like NO WAY. Granted they already have two dogs but I would take them both in a heart beat. I was crushed and disappointed.

All that being said I do have a set of friends who WANT her but I fear she is too much for them,  and another work related friend who has already insisted that we put it in our WILL that she goes to him.

Hopefully non of this is necessary for any of us.

Glad you found the perfect home for your boys.

So sad I saw this to late...I would adopt them in a heart beat...And I live in FL

But the good news is.....You are going to have a safe vacation and come back to your sweet fur babies who will be waiting with lots of doodle hugs and kisses to give!!

Enjoy your vacation!!!!

If I had the room and did not work full time I would take them in a second.  I always tell my BF who absolutely adores my two doodles and who actually bought Oliver for me that if anything should happen to me that my babies stay together no matter what.  My BF would take them but his job keeps him away from home long hours, he would bring them to his office for sure since everyone in his business is an animal lover but.......  I just can't picuture my princess Sasha hanging out at a construction office, Oliver would hanging with the consrtruction guys but I would not want my Sasha getting dirty - LOL.  My sister could not handle two very active dogs so she is out of the picture.  I know my BF would do everything in his power to keep my doodles close to him and keep them together which is a relief for me.

I am glad you found someone to take them and now you can go and enjoy your vacation :)

Wow...I never thought about this.  Geez, I guess I should.  Thanks for bringing this up!  Glad you found a solution!

What a great idea to do this Jane. you never can be too cautious. I have thought about this too, and have told a friend to contact doodlekisses if something ever happens to me. she thinks I'm crazy but at least someone knows.

I'm so curious about who their God-Mother is. I hope she steps forward and self identifies!

Jane, I am glad you have found someone that will love your boys. I'm retiring in a few weeks and thought they might enjoy 6 mos in Florida and 6 mos in Newfoundland but I see you already have a volunteer. The last time my sister ( a dog lover) came to visit, we made it official that she is Quincy's DogMother. It does give me some peace of mind knowing that there is a home waiting for him if he should ever need it. While my son loves Quincy, I don't think he is the right one to care for him and right now he is living 3000 miles away but I know he would take care of him rather than give him up.

Donna - I'm adding you to my back up list if that is o.k.  And let me tell you - if you need someone who would LOVE & ADORE Quincy - who could give him two great brothers - add ME to your list!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'd love and care for him like my own two.

OK,You're on! I just had a thought, QRS, they are next to each other in the alphabet, coincidence?

I was just thinking about this tonight! I was thinking that I should add to my will as to what happens to my 3 doods--what a weird coincidence--haven't got an answer yet, but all three of my doodles are from the same breeder and two are used for breeding--so i think she would be the one who would come up with something if anything happened to hubby and I...but i should talk to her about it, just in case.

My girls are cat people and son is still in college, so that is out!
