I just posted my question about Toby's leg on Yahoo Answers, because I am quite worried, and wanted some input. BIG mistake. Not only are people on there sarcastic and not at all helpful, but the anger and resentment towards Goldendoodles is ridiculous. Calling Toby a mutt, ugly, insulting the breeder (assuming I would have no health guarantee), on and on and on. That's the last time I'll do that. Wow. I would never insult someone's pet. That's just wrong. I was told I likely overpaid for a mutt, and that mutts aren't generally healthy, prone to health problems, etc. There are just some people out there who aren't nice at all. From now on I stick to Doodlekisses!!!

This is the best place to be to find helpful and nice people (who also have a rare combination of being discerning while remaining non-judgy! ). I think sometimes people just lurk around those boards waiting to go for the jugular
Oh Sandy, I am so sorry to hear about your experience on Yahoo Answer. I have not been on there before and actually have not heard of it til your discussion. But I find it ridiculous when people insult others without really knowing what they are talking about. There are A LOT of ignorant people out in this world and if they do not have the intelligence to even to discover any type of doodle breed.....then it is their loss. We know how doodles are..............they are the best and are the most intelligent. Do not let those people bother you............ I think I can speak for everyone here at Doodle Kisses......................just ask us here because we not only LOVE doodles, but we love all dogs (and other animals).
The funny thing is I bet no one even answered your question. It's sad that when someone is asking for help people feel justified in being mean to them. Whatever happened to "If you don't have anything nice to say, just say nothing at all?" It seems to have turned into, "If you don't have anything useful to say, just shoot your mouth off!"
I have noticed that even living in the Pacific NW where you can swing a fake Fendi & hit 3 doodles people still don't know what they are & I just tell people that Oski's a golden retriever-poodle cross. The few times I've called him a goldendoodle people have looked at me like I'm crazy,"Her dog is named after a cookie!" or give me that "Ugh, she's one of those foo-foo designer dog people." looks & walk away. If they don't know what he is, people just fall in love with Oski :)
Aw - too bad! I've had similar experiences out walking with Finn when people hear he's a labradoodle. There are so many experienced dog owners - moreover doodleowners here on DoodleKisses, you can't need to go anywhere else! I do hope you get to the bottom of Toby's leg problem; send him a big hug - and keep us posted.
That is what I've always heard too - a mixed breed is a healthier dog. (and also what I have found in my experiences) I have had purebred dogs and mixed breeds - and have had some nice vet bills with the purebreds that I haven't had with the mixed breeds. We had a collie/shepherd mix and her vet bills consisted only of yearly check/shots. I've also had purebred cockers - need I say more?? I loved my girls, but they always seemed to have one problem or another. That's why we were dogless for 4 years... it's just too hard being a "responsible" dog owner when it's "that time". And tho we will be "responsible" pet owners with Abby too, our hopes is that won't happen for a LONG time. (altho a long time is still never long enough is it?)
As a breeder, with a website out there, I get the occasional hate mail. Once a lady left her true name and phone number so I called her. She had been complaining that I didn't health test my adults etc. She was shocked that I called her and did admit that I was doing things right, but she knew of places that were not TKB. It takes all types to make up the world.
Thank goodness there are lots of nice, positive people out there. Sorry you had to get a bad one.
