Aussiedoodle

Welcome to The Aussiedoodle Group  -  Where we love to share photos, experiences, concerns, laughs, and so much more about our ADs. A group where we understand the proud ownership you feel about these amazing furry creatures. We also understand that though the AD is a doodle cross, it has a unique set of features from its Golden and Labrador cousins.

About The Breed

Aussiedoodles are Australian Shepherd and Poodle cross, NOT Australian Labradoodles

Aussiedoodles are very consistent in their shaggy Looks, and typically very low to no shedding. They are very smart. They are Like Little children with Hair, You just can't go wrong

They are popular as Service and/or Therapy dogs due to their trainability, Caring and eager to please personality. Specifically, many are used as Diabetic Alert Dogs.

Their sizes are much easier to predict as both Australian Shepherds and Poodles come in 3 sizes, Miniature, Moyen, and Standard.

Just wondering if anyone is still in this group. I have not noticed any recent posts. I'm about to get an Aussidoodle and it would be nice to talk with other aussiedoodle owners.

Thuy ....Thank you for your kind words about Tori.   I am not really sure how much she weighed when we got her... but at exactly 3 months she was 14.9 pounds, and now at 3 1/2 years old she only weighs 38 pounds.  She looks heavier due to all her hair.  Her shaggy look is gone now since the summer, but will be back soon as the cooler weather begins.

Tori is a cutie! I love the shaggy look. How much does she weigh at 10 weeks?

Hops is beautiful!  I don't think he will get much curlier, although when his adult coat comes in ya' never know.  I love his coloring!  this is tori about 10 weeks old and now... her coat actually straightened.  but that's what's so great about doodles - you never quite know how they will end up looking... but to use only one word.... BEAUTIFUL!

Not the best shot of her, but you can see how she straightened out....

Hello! First time aussiedoodle owner. His name is Hops. :) I am curious how his coat will change as he gets older. As you can see in my profile picture, his coat is pretty straight right now at almost 8 weeks. Will it get more wavy as he age?

Sydney has the sweetest disposition. She loves dogs and people. Her energy level is pretty high and she is a chewer, however, she is so smart, I simply say "Syd that's not yours" and she drops whatever she thinks she wants to check out. For the most part, she is past the chewing of shoes, etc. and sticks with the toys she knows are hers. She loves the dog park. She has to say hello to every person and every dog. She makes sure the dog knows she is a big marshmello and unashamably will get as low as she can go if need be. The best dog in the world! So thankful we got her.

Shep is 13 months old standard aussiedoodle and he is active when he is outside, but comes inside and just lays around.  We walk about 2 miles a day and play ball when it is cooler outside, but even in the summer when he doesn't get a great deal of play time he is calm inside.  I also work about 15 minutes a day on training commands because I think he needs the mental stimulation as much as the physical.  Compared to my Siberian Husky and Golden mix when they were his age I can't say I notice much difference in energy level.  Shep also loves all other dogs - he occasionally goes to doggie day care because he is so interested in other dogs.

What is the level of energies of Aussiedoodle?  How are they with other dogs?
