OMD, they are adorable.
Sue,
So happy for you and post all the pics you want. We love puppies!!! Are they expecting lot's of colors?
Sue - congrats on your new puppy!!! I know exactly how you feel about looking forward to bringing him home. When I found out about my Lani girl last year, I was sooo anxious and excited to bring her home that time seemed to go by soooo slow for me! I like couldn't rest until I knew she was home with me. Enjoy every minute of your new baby and seeing pictures after he's born. Congrats!!!
Hi Barb! I certainly know how great this breed is..LOL! I love my two! I am glad you joined in about the humping and marking. Yes, I have read all that too. I was hoping to explain to Sue that everything I feared about having a male dog just wasn't true. I have never had a male dog until this guy and he was an ESN so that was my only knowledge. I read a lot of comments from breeders, I think on Doodle Zoo, regarding having males and females and I was surprised (at the time, not now) how many people thought there were many, many positives about having males. It was not just a marking and humping issue which I have been so mistaken about my whole life! I have one of each now and love them both. There is really no difference between my male and female! Thanks for your input!!
I just cannot wait, am so very excited. It is funny about the allotting of puppies. I just never asked. I think they do the picking as we discussed just what personality etc. I was looking for in a dog. I too have many feelings that I did not do everything I was able to do for Cassie. Looking back, I took everything the vet and oncologists said as absolute. I wish I had know more. I know I did not cause her Mast Cell Disease by neglect or bad foods etc. but think I could have helped more. I will never forget this bitter lesson, she truly the love of my life and I have had many dogs. This little one will at least have a Mommy that will not take anything for granted. I am 69 and alone so I will have plenty of time to do the best for her. After the first of the year, I would love to bring her to Juno beach to meet you and your two. Again, if there is anything you think could help me settle in this little pup please let me know. I am counting on Karen and Mark for lots of pictures. Thanks again for your input.
Sally, my intact boys do not mark or hump anything inappropriately either. I only ban them from the livingroom when I have girls in heat, but they hang out in the hall and a couple of other rooms that are accessible to them. My neutered boy does not get banned from the livingroom and he does not act inappropriately either even when the girls are in heat. He wasn't neutered until age 4. This is a great breed.
Hi again! I absolutely had my heart set on a girl as I had never had a boy dog either. Mark and Karen didn't suggest anything. I don't know how they are alloting now but at the time I had second pick. Well, as they kept sending pictures (and they were sending out lots of pics) I kept being drawn to this one male. So I got online on the doodle sites I had found and did a lot of reading about the difference in male and females. Males kept winning out in being more like Mommas boys which I wanted and I also realized that with early spay and neuter it really wasn't going to matter. There weren't going to be any marking issues or things like that. He has NEVER marked anything or humped anything or even lifted his leg to pee! Ever! He squats only. So after talking to Karen I went with my heart and brought home my little boy and I have NEVER regretted it! He hangs with me, he's not independent in that he never takes off and he is soooo sweet and compliant. We are in our late 50's and he is very laid back and isn't the kind who wants to go hiking! We go on our beach walks and he loves that for about an hour then he is ready to go home. His personality has been perfect for us!
I feed the raw for no reason other than I lost a 7 year old black lab, who I loved dearly, from lymphoma. When I started doing research I realized the scoop on awful big company dog food and had I had any idea I never would have fed pro plan to my Magic. I don't know what caused her lymphoma but I just want to try to do the healthier thing this time around. I felt so guilty about the crap that I fed her but I just didn't know any better. Now I do, so that is why I have made healthier food choices for them and they love, love, love the raw. I go to work early in the morning so the kibble works best for their morning meal! Simple as that!!
