I'm with you Diane.  No puppies for me (or for MonaChica).  My vet also said 6 months and that is when I had it done.  I had always preferred male puppies just because the neutering was so easy with puppies, but it was no problem at all with Chica's spay.  She is just a little reluctant to go into the vet's office now.

Carolyn, I already had this conversation with her. My breeder said to send her proof of spay/neuter when I got it done at 6 months, and that would be OK with her. One breeder I spoke with insisted the dog be spayed before it went home. She had beautiful puppies, but I crossed her off my list. Of course, now I have to pay for the spay out of my own pocket but at least I will get what I want. At almost 70 years old, I have no desire to raise a litter of puppies. lol

Diane, I don't like to see the dogs sprayed/neutered before 7 months.  I had a special contract with all the new puppy owners that the dogs would be sprayed/neutered by 7 months or they would have to pay the breeding price.  In the contract I stipulated how much I would reimbursed them. See if you can work such an agreement with the breeder.

Question~ While I was looking at breeders for ALD's, I noticed several were spaying their dogs at 8 weeks, before they were released to their forever homes. I didn't spay my golden doodles until they were at least 6 months old. When did you spay your ALD's?

Thanks for the welcome Carolyn and Lynda. I am hoping to get a different color ALD so they show more contrast in photos, like yours, Carolyn. I LOVE to take photos so I will be torturing you when our new addition arrives. Quite a few of my friends have ALDs, I've decided to join them. I'm sure the new one will be every bit as sweet as my Jersey Girls.

Diane, your girls are such great models.  Can't wait to see your little ALD.

Diane, Welcome to the ALD group.  LOVE your doodles in shades.  I look forward to your other photos.

At the moment, I am only a Australian Labradoodle owner in waiting. The puppies are due to be born early Jan, 2017. I won't actually get my hands on the pup until early March. Can't wait. I currently have two golden doodles, Jersey and Jasmine. I thought I would join the group and read up about you all while I wait. I am not new to Doodle Kisses. We live in central NJ and love going to the Jersey shore to let the girls run and play with their doodle friends. I look forward to interacting more when our new bundle of joy arrives. Happy New Year!
