I'm looking for any recipes that will yield soft and chewy treats I can cut into small pieces to use as training treats. So far, I have only been able to find recipes for crunchy treats. Anyone have any favorites?

Stephanie,

I was looking for soft treats also. I just made a batch of soft PB & pumpkin treats. I used a small dog bone cutter, only 1 inch. I want to find a small circle, so I can make them look like the zuke's minis.

They don't spread out when you bake them, but puff up slightly, I got about 65 treats from the recipe. I just kept cutting treats out until the dough was gone.

Here's the recipe:

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup pumpkin
3 tbsp of peanut butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 eggs

You just mix together, then roll out & use the cookie cutters. I also used regular PB, as I didn't have natural. I don't think in moderation that's bad though! The dough is soft, but not sticky. I baked mine for 15 minutes, so they kept a chewy texture. Stew LOVED them and was glued to me this morning as I was making them! I'll post pictures once I'm on my computer.

Awesome- thanks, Jess. Ragley goes nuts for pumpkin so I'm sure she will love these!

Great question. I was just coming to post the same as I'm going to go broke via training treats. ;)
Here's an easy no bake recipe. Though it does take some time to roll into balls. I made it last night. I made the balls much smaller than what is shown here so that they could be used for training. My dogs loved them.
