Hi. New to this group so I don't know if I'm being redundant in asking if you all have a tried & true way to prevent mats on your doodles. Axl has been groomed once at the beginning of the summer…Continue

We took Olivia to the Groomers for a trim earlier this month.  Her last trim was late in the fall.  We wanted to keep her coat longer for the winter.  Well, we thought we were ahead of the game.   But after this past winter, all of the playing in the snow, snowballs on her coat, legs and paws, Olivia had more mats than we thought.  The groomer gave her a bath, then called us to us if we wanter her shaved down.  We went though this when we lived in PA.  We found that the groomers just didn't want to spend the time to groom Doodles properly.  We brush Olivia with the Les Pooches brush weekly so she is not matted that much.  I have been working on Olivia myself, a little bit every week, cutting her a bit at a time and brushing until she seems "enough".  She has been sick the last several days so I will wait until the weekend to continue.  And, I will try and groom her as much as I can myself.  I don't think there is a need for shaving......Olivia hated sitting on her shaved butt for weeks when it was done in the past!!!

When Chloe turned one, we decided to take her for a special day at the groomer, she got bathed and brushed out (at least that's what the appointment was for.)

We said NO cutiing ANYTHING! We picked her up and she "touched her up" she looked like a POODLE! I cried SO hard, so she's never been back I do it myself.Myla HAD to be shaved down to the skin because of mats. I cried again-now she goes every 3 weeks (to the same girl everytime) to get brushed out and stuff. Chloe's face never really filled in the way it was supposed to, Myla well, she's just a mess that's why we love her!
