I've been reading a lot of your opinions on the CC pin brushes, and I am pretty sure I am going to give those a try because I just cant afford the Les Pooches brush right now. However, I am confused on which you all are using. There is the pin brush with the wooden handle and the pin brush with wooden PINS and handle. Which do you all use?
Thanks so much!

I have the wooden pin brush and my dogs love it so I call it the spa brush. It is NOT for detangling. It's for brushing the top of the coat or brushing a coat that is already dematted. I use it to brush the top of the coat to start breaking up matts or dreads, but it won't go all the way thru. I use the Les Poochs brushes to get thru the coat from underneath. I use the wooden pin brush under the coat too, but it only starts the job. The wooden pins are great for tender spots like tummies.
The CC metal pin brushes did not work very well on my dogs so I returned the one I had.
I'm sure others have other experiences, so they should weigh into this conversation.
I use the wooden pin brush on my dogs for daily or almost daily brushing. I also have found the Bamboo rotating tines comb to be invaluable for combing. I tried the Les Pooch but my dogs hated it. I have a CC pin brush and I use it if I have a more serious issue with tangling. I think a lot of it depends on your dogs coat and tangle/mat problems.
If your dood doesn't have a high maintenance type coat, you can get away with many brushes that are cheaper, but if he or she has a more poodle-thick curly coat, you need to save up and get the LesPouchs brush. It makes a huge difference. As a young puppy, you can use cheaper brushes but if your pup goes through a matting stage like most do, you will need a great brush. I also have an "imitation' LesPouchs slicker that is okay and would do if the coat is not tremendously mat-prone or until you can get the real one. It is made by MGT. Here is the link: http://www.petedge.com/product/Master-Grooming-Tools-Flexible-Slick...
The difference is that the LesPouchs has bent tines on both sides and the MGT one does not. Both are flexible but the LesPouchs one is superior.
Which LesPouchs brush do you use for poodle-thick curly coats?
Buster has a very curly fleece coat, and I was told to get the green brush. I have the cheaper imitation brushes, too. I used it for the first time the other day, and it worked fine for me. I guess for me, I would have to try a Les Poochs brush to know the difference. Price wise, though...for now, the cheaper ones work good for me.
